"We are in a major constitutional crisis here." says the Solicitor General. Which government has led us to this point? Absolute shambles.

The Tories will need more than raffle tickets to get out of this.

  3. Looking forward to seeing all the people who've slated the deal now moaning about the vote being pulled!

The PM told us last week that if she didn't have an agreement in Parliament by Wednesday, she would have to ask for a long extension at the least on Thursday . The Institute for government suggests tonight that even nine months would be too short a period to sort this mess out. This would involve the UK having elections for members to the EU parliament. All of the constitutional lawyers have agreed that Mr. Speaker is 100% correct in his judgement. Funny that my loathsome MP is lost in her own little world and is thrashing around wondering who to blame.

Confirmed now that the PM will write to the EU requesting an extension.

Brexit Minister Kwasi Kwarteng says there are plans in place and the government will "as soon as possible" bring forward legislation to change the UK's exit day.

I wonder what SH will have to say about his celebrations?

It will be well worth the wait to get rid of these Johnny foreigners.

    I actually prefer Gaillac Perle.

    May: I want an extension.
    EU: Why?
May: I want an extension because I want an extension.
EU: For what purpose? To pass the deal or something else?
May: I've been very clear, the purpose of the extension will be to have an extension.
    EU: But how long for?
May: For a period of time.

Sums up rather well how this incompetent government has led the country. It is little wonder that the country has finished up in this mess because it was never about doing the right thing for the country, but trying to shut up the loonies on the right of the Tory party.

Hopefully the EU deny an extension so we leave without a dodgy deal.

Keep up SH. Government confirm request for a long delay. The suggestion from the EU at the moment is two years.

    Some light relief:
France's Brexit minister names her cat Brexit..
Because ‘he meows loudly to be let out but just stands there when I open the door’

.... And who says the French have no sense of humour??

Sounds like Mrs May wants to defy the Speaker and demand a 3rd vote.

Maybe she'll only lose by 100 this time?

Thankfully the EU are going out of their way to protect the rights of the UK people who have moved to Europe. They have said they will protect the social rights of all, and have approved an agreement across the whole EU to do so. For some who have worked for a period of time in more than one country they have paid into state pension schemes across the continent, and have been able to have the all of their pension paid in the country in which they now live. They are also making it possible for all UK ex-pats to retain freedom of movement to live, work and travel throughout the EU, which is very important for those who carry out consultancy work.
At the same time the UK government has said it will cover medical expenses for UK citizens living in the EU for twelve months, after which you are on your own. This surprises me as treatment paid for by the UK is very much cheaper than that provided in the UK, and if all the ex-pats returned the cost to the NHS would rise dramatically. It can only be taken as a means to save money by washing their hands of those who do not live in the UK.
It is very sad that the UK has taken this route, showing that individuals are not very high on the list of priorities, despite being UK nationals. I think that the two systems are being shown up for what they are worth.

The HUGE march that the Daily Express said would show up the feelings of people in the North East. After Farage appeared briefly to march to London, he left to return to the warmth of a studio in London, leaving the 60 - 70 who had been conned to get cold and wet. £50 to join in as a "core marcher" doesn't seem to have attracted many. Last time he organised a HUGE march it was cancelled at the last minute due to no one turning up. The man is a busted flush, but still some seem to regard him as some sort of credible leader.
