Agreed - he's a quality player struggling in a sh*t Milan side. Could be worth a punt.

Same with Origi - he's struggling in a boring Lille side. Put him a team with better players around him and he'll get better. But I rather we go out and buy someone who is more experienced.

The Shaqiri link is getting stronger - loan until end of the season.

Best pals with Balotelli too

Well, that's ****ed it :bandit:

I can only dream. What about Torres back on loan till the end of the season? Only marginally quicker than Lambo nowadays though.

Delph is exactly the type of player we've been signing over the last four or five years! Despite being almost out of contract, we'll insist on paying top dollar for him regardless!

Maybe his hearts no longer in it...?

We'll sell Coutinho and Sturridge so that we can fund a £20m over-the-odds bid.

Heavy rumour we have agreed to sign Torres on loan in January.

Please god no. He's scored 1 goal this season, has been absolute ****e since leaving us what's the ****ing point. We've already got 2 strikers who can't ****ing score (plus an OAP) why add another who doesn't know where the net is anymore?

I'd rather have a youngster who will come good in a few years than the ladyboy back.

Hum interesting.

Mate of mine just pointed out that the tweet is incorrect - in the fact he is still at Chelsea, we wouldn't be loaning him from Ac <ok>

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has warned the club against re-signing Fernando Torres because he believes the striker is past his best.

Reports have emerged the Reds, who are on the lookout for a new frontman, are interested in bringing the Spaniard, currently on loan from Chelsea at AC Milan, back to Anfield.

But Carragher believes his former team-mate's best days are behind him having failed to reignite his career in Serie A, and reckons Brendan Rodgers should be targeting an up-and-coming starlet instead.

“I wouldn’t like to see [Fernando Torres return], if I’m being totally honest,” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast.

“If Liverpool bring a striker in you want a young, fresh, and energetic young fellow who is looking to make a name for himself.

“Fernando Torres has had an unbelievable career with the trophies that he has won but I think we saw the best of him at Anfield and that was quite a few years ago now.

“It’s been unfortunate for the lad, the way his career has gone since then. He’s still picked up plenty of trophies with Chelsea and Spain.

“With that move to Milan you’re thinking a slower paced game would suit him a bit more now, because of the problems he’s had with injuries, but it looks straight away that AC Milan are keen to offload him.

If Chelsea and Milan are thinking the same I don’t think anything would change too much at Liverpool.

“I wish him well but I think we should be looking for something else.”

Yeah I've read a little of what Carra has said.

But hey he's not their anymore.

Who knows what Rodgers and co are thinking/planning.

Can I say that it is actually illegal for a player to have two different loans in one season

This is why atletico want him on a free permenantly

Also for the record resigning Torres for me is a sackable offense

Might have to give up on football if we resign Torres.

We need another player with actual end product... Not more flashy, tricky inverted wingers or CAMs. Someone like oh... Loic Remy... Remember him?

No it isn't, happens all the time with youngsters at lower league clubs. The ruling as far as I am aware is they are only allowed to be registered to play for a maximum of three clubs in a twelve month period (may be within a season though). However, they are only allowed to play for two. So far, Torres has been with Chelsea and Milan so he is allowed one more. If the ruling is per season then Torres hasn't played for Chelsea.

Being a free agent won't make any difference to this ruling.

Torres' movement for Chelsea in the last couple of seasons was very good, he just lacked the finishing. He's not as pacey as used to be, nor does he have that explosive acceleration anymore. However, he's still quicker than Mario, Rickie and Fabio and wouldn't score any less either. He would offer work ethic and movement as well so IMO, he's a better fit for us than those three.

As I said on the match thread to Bow, I don't want Torres because I want us to aim higher but if we lack money or options and its Torres or nothing, I'd take him. Roll the dice and see what happens. If it only a loan until May then it won't hurt, especially since our season is ****ed anyway. If it did work out, Chelsea want rid so we may get him cheap. If it didn't work out we say thanks but no thanks.

For me, it would be a GK straight away. Test BVB over Bender to have a proper CDM since BR seems to think Emre Can can't do it ( although I think he can). I see the striker issue but we do have Origi out there so need to be careful. Realisitcally though, we have three strikers in Origi, Balo, and Sturridge who are unknown, not performing, injured. I am not really counting Lambert and Borini, just not the quality, not good enough simple as that.

Shaquiri would be good, Lacazette would be good but then you run the risk of two many strikers ( just Origi, Balo, and Studge). Think Firmino would be good as he can play the no.10 or wide.

Just think we need the players that can come in now, that know how to/want to press high, and have quality.

At the end of the day though....... will they trust BR with the money?

No such thing as too many... Not when the inevitable taking of a bath in terms of losing on balotelli will occur

Origi has been muck this year so.....

Borini is next to gone

Realistically we've one player and he is injured so we need badly, the whole world can see that.

Shaqiri, Firmino, Lacazette - all quality players that we should have been targeting. Instead, we ended up with Lallana, Lambert and Balotelli.

Well here is the thing. We are where we are and no amount of saying the mistakes will change it

What is needed is change now. If lfc don't sign a gk and a striker this January... And early we will know fsg and Ayre have not backed Rodgers

It's clear to me that Rodgers has painted himself into a must buy in both positions.

After that someone's got to just make the best of what is left.

You know that we are **** defensively but you know that we are actually in half decent touch right now with the 11 Rodgers is putting out and yet another Rodgers system

So.....

Add for example cech, Jackson Martinez and sturridge back in we might pick up.... But we will see what really happens

Torres?

Surely not? <laugh>

If you wanted to sign a washed up ex-kopite striker you'd be better off signing this lad.
