[HASHTAG]#LFC[/HASHTAG] are cautiously optimistic of securing Roma's Alisson, valued at £66 million, in what would be a world record deal for a goalkeeper. Talks are progressing well. Player has indicated his willingness to move to Anfield.

Thought he wanted Real M. <whistle>

Interestingly Sky are suggesting that Chelsea are considering moves for Cech or Schmiechel. That’s come from nowhere - does this mean that they think Alisson is a no? Am speculating like a red top hack on a column inch bonus here, obviously....

Alison isn't going anywhere imo

Pretty much what I said earlier. If we had De Gea, we'd have won the CL last season. For some reason, keepers have always been under priced compared to other areas of the pitch. Yes forwards generally will be more expensive as they score you the goals that win game, but a keeper and defence are the one that make sure you don't lose them as well.

I also think that 15 years ago, defending was easier. You didn't need to be as good a defender because you could get away with a lot more. More fouling, shirt pulling, give the forward a kick early doors without getting a yellow. Nowadays, any kind of touch is a foul, and tackle is a yellow so defending has got a lot harder which means having really good defenders and keepers is far more important which means the very best are now catching up price wise with the rest of the positions.

If Salah hadn't got injured we'd have won.

Perhaps. There’s one thing bidding and having it accepted (not happened yet) and another the player coming - you are right. We’ll know soon enough.

He's being priced out the market. Proven by the fact that the rumoured cost as been decreasing all summer.

He's not exactly had a outstanding world cup nor was he great against us (his biggest range of the season).

I know all of that, but it was said on a few occasions that Allison had his heart set on RM. Just media bollocks I guess.

has his heart on the money. let's not kid ourselves, he is 25 and will **** off to real or Barca when the offer does come.

the fact is right now he has no offer from them.

So, lets have a look at our new keeper <whistle>...............

You must log in or register to see media

watched first 2 and a half minutes:

- first thoughts, that video shows a few outstanding saves
- he's very quick to get back up for 2nd saves
- his positioning is not bad

the main thing i saw and i think its showed in the first 30 seconds is that he's very palmy out and the first double save he makes is more a poor reflection on him not pushing it out/catching it. Likes to parry it like most keepers - should be worried about that as thats what karius does.

Be interesting to also see how much he flaps/commands his box

Just call him karius lite... Diego will be delighted to have some ammo.

esp now that de geas dreams are over and he is stuck at Utd.

He will start off good then our goalkeeping coaching team will bring him down to standards.
I genuinely think we hav an issue with the gk coach spot and have done for years.

Many other clubs seem to buy keepers and make them better ours always seem to regress. But will see. Currently have more faith in the scouting team, long may it continue :)
