Completely different position, but he was the midfield Finnan. No fuss, no flair, just there ... that's a nice little rhymeAllen was never a holding out defensive midfielder either imo.

Moyes must have a time machine or be using an old version of FM - he's just signed Gibson and Oviedo for Sunderland. Has he signed anyone at all yet who hasn't played for him before?
We don't need a team of specials, one would do atm![]()
We have a long history of not having a team of stars but rather workhorses, utility men and reliables who got the job done, went home, stayed out of the trashy press and came back the next day to repeat it. Allen was actually getting better and better and we did ourselves and him a disservice with the timing of his sale. We're clearly suffering and he's all but disappeared. Another season or two with us and we both would have benefitted.
We don't do egos ... are you listening Can.
There isn't a single player atm that I'm excited to watch. Come back Suarez all is forgiven .....

Well, if all these teams are consistently better than us at finding talent, how come they're not consistently higher than us in the league?
Allen was a poor man's Coutinho.
He was best in the Coutinho role as a like-for-like replacement... Just not nearly as good.
We have our own bargains though...........Couts £8.5m...........Studge £12m.............Matip on a free...............Milner on a free........etc.

Errmmm.............give me a minuteThis is true. Not sure who the etc is though![]()

Kenny Dalglish

my theory is that it is due to calcium from dog bones which is why you don't see so many these days as years ago most dogs got scraps & bones that had been used in the meal.
Why do some dog logs do this?
i hope i'm reading this wrong but if you are labelling those 3 players as just"solid & reliable" you are taking the self wum campaign to stupid levels that even the manc twats struggle to reachkeegan, dalglish barnes etc etc etc.
a lot of players were indeed very "solid" but allen was never solid imo. you could not rely him being fit

As if we needed it, our recent experiences have shown that most players seemingly below our level are anything but ****.i hope i'm reading this wrong but if you are labelling those 3 players as just"solid & reliable" you are taking the self wum campaign to stupid levels that even the manc twats struggle to reach.
I also dislike this habit these days of calling a player as brilliant or **** . As in most professions a small percentage are totally useless and a small percentage are totally outstanding but the vast majority are somewhere in between. The trick is to find a squad that most are in the top 50% with a couple in top 20 % that fit the systen the manager wants to play - though he has to be prepared to tinker with that system to ensure the team functions to it's optimum potential.
Barnes Dalglish & Keegan solid FFS
