Completely different position, but he was the midfield Finnan. No fuss, no flair, just there ... that's a nice little rhyme
Moyes must have a time machine or be using an old version of FM - he's just signed Gibson and Oviedo for Sunderland. Has he signed anyone at all yet who hasn't played for him before?
they must have come cheap. thats all i can say gibson has been a sick note for how long? everton must be laughing. Oviedo is an average LB. does he improve sunderland? maybe i dunno
keegan, dalglish barnes etc etc etc. a lot of players were indeed very "solid" but allen was never solid imo. you could not rely him being fit
Allen was a poor man's Coutinho. He was best in the Coutinho role as a like-for-like replacement... Just not nearly as good.
Because we end up paying £30m for the 'talent' from these clubs instead of the £8m that we could have paid one year earlier. So the talent we have costs far more....and we have a tad more of it. That was my point. For the price of a Lovren, we could have had Van Dijk, Kante and Mahrez....
We have our own bargains though...........Couts £8.5m...........Studge £12m.............Matip on a free...............Milner on a free........etc.
Sakho was a good deal at £17 ish?......hasn't worked out obv.................Hendo for £16m.........Lucas wasn't expensive............ We get our fair share of bargains..................and disasters
my theory is that it is due to calcium from dog bones which is why you don't see so many these days as years ago most dogs got scraps & bones that had been used in the meal.
i hope i'm reading this wrong but if you are labelling those 3 players as just"solid & reliable" you are taking the self wum campaign to stupid levels that even the manc twats struggle to reach . I also dislike this habit these days of calling a player as brilliant or **** . As in most professions a small percentage are totally useless and a small percentage are totally outstanding but the vast majority are somewhere in between. The trick is to find a squad that most are in the top 50% with a couple in top 20 % that fit the systen the manager wants to play - though he has to be prepared to tinker with that system to ensure the team functions to it's optimum potential. Barnes Dalglish & Keegan solid FFS
As if we needed it, our recent experiences have shown that most players seemingly below our level are anything but ****.
