Think that went out of the window years ago . Our wage bill is very high both in absolute terms and as percentage of revenue
Yeah, I was in that camp too. I thought we should sell and reinvest. He's been great since his last contract extension though, and we've not seen much of the expected salary creep until now, but boy is it going to hit us hard if we accept VVD and TAA's creep... Although I'm VVDs case, probably worth it.
Which no doubt is impacting us in the transfer window. You can either have high wages or good transfer activity. Hard to have both... But fans expect both.
I didn't want to give him that money simply because of the repercussions down the line. Given his current form it seems a bit stupid to say it, but I think for the future of the club a sustainable structure is essential. Even on his current form I wouldn't give him more than he's currently on.
our revenues this season should be quite a bit higher than last season due to CL involvement and the increased capacity and it seems very likely we will qualify for CL next season but lots of teams have money sloshing around one way or another .
Is he on crazy wages? Obviously yes, all footballers are. But compare the other players earning what he earns and and more… half the United team ffs. all below above 300k kdb haaland cassmiro rashford Grealish fernandes Is it crazy to say Salah doesn’t deserve it? He’s the best player in the world atm let alone the prem.
Not necessarily - the club could still be trying to persuade him, offering him an improved deal. But as you probably know, if it were me I'd let him go if that's what he wants.
It can't be be both ways. Either Trent's already made his mind up to go do negotiable are over or there's a chance for negotiation to stay at Liverpool, no matter how slim that chance may be. I agree though; rather let him go that be held to ransom.
Off tv rights Merch Match day Anything really (Edit - not laughing at you Solid laughing at me and how little I think things through before I post lol )
Salah, with what he is achieving this season, I can understand why he would want an improved contract financially Trent, as good as he can be , is not irreplaceable and certainly not worth what Salah is currently getting paid. Virgil, has also done very well, but he’s still not worth what Salah is currently getting paid.
Surely you can envisage a scenario where he has decided he wants to leave but the club keep waving bigger and bigger carrots in front of his nose to persuade him to stay? That isn't having it both ways, it's still an attempt at negotiation but one side is unlikely to budge. I'm not saying that that is the case, btw - simply suggesting a case whereby money is not the factor stalling progress. If he was straightforward and just said "I want to leave and no amount of money will change my mind" then it's pointless continuing and yes, negotiations are finished. But who knows? Tbh, I'm getting a bit fed up with all the speculation - I'm resigned to the likelihood of him leaving and I don't care any more.
There as to be some sort of chance of him staying for that too happen; ie he's not 100% set on leaving. Maybe 99%. The two can't be in conjunction imo Bit yeah, I'm the same and have been for a while; if he goes, he goes. We got him for nothing, he leaves for nothing and we got to enjoy him whilst he was here. As much as I'd like him to stay, good luck to him, it's his career and they don't last very long. Can't blame him if he wants to experience something different, we all have different goals in life.
Apparently Bellingham has been spotted chatting up Alphonso Davies over Christmas, so ignore any paper rumours that he might be interested in us (or any Prem team) Real have got their claws in him for a free in the summer as well.
Could get Dani Olmo for free potentially. Seems Barca are in a right mess only registered him to today and lost 2 appeals already to register him for the rest of the season.
Think he’s a great player but not really what we’d need. Would just add more competition in that szobo jones Elliott role
