I'd have wanted contracts in front of players slot should have known were top class and it should have been part of his hiring discussions.

Look, you can look all you like at although you need or don't need but these certain players are nearly out of contract and are top class. We are offering them contracts or selling them if they refuse them.

It's now miles past the point where slot should have had his say and still no contracts have been offered so imo we've lost out on 100mil in fees and are going to decimate the team if it's not sorted.

Obviously they should have been given a serious offer and see where they are at.

I'd have given a 1st August serious deadline to see the whites of their eyes. It's fairly clear that this has lifted far too long and we are up against a wall now. The exact same contract will have to be offered but the players can now shrug and say psg, real or Saudis have offered this.

There’s no way we should be 2 days away from the 1st Jan and have these 3 players being able to sign pre contracts with other teams.

Regardless of whether they were waiting so see what Slot was like as a Manager/person, his tactics etc our first premier league match was 17th August. That’s plenty of time for them to make up their mind, and there’s no excuse really not to have had the contracts sorted out.

It’s obvious Mo & Virgil want to stay. Contract renewals shouldn't take more than a month at max to sort.

They appointed Richard Hughes on the 20th of March.

He has had from that time to imo August 1st to sort these contracts and didn't. He should have put a real offer down to all 3 and assessed it then.

Players can say what they like about wanting to see what slot was like or what the club ambition was but for the club getting cash in to pull off another gravenberc, szoboszlai, macallister window would be important.

As it stands we could have sold trent for a vast sum still last August.

We could have seen the whites of their eyes.

Instead the club has allowed this to drag and fester to the point where all 3 can now announce pre-contract deals in a few days time and there's not one thing the club can do.

Once these come out we will get the usual spin on a disasterous situation and some will no doubt buy that too.

Any rational dof would be signing vvd up on 250k if that's what is required as it's patently obviously he could run for 3 or 4 years still and even when he can't he can stand and head it all day. The fact he hasn't even tried to tells me loads.

Any sane rational dog would be tolds by the financial director exactly what salah image rights mean to us and would have got a deal done.

Now salah again has residency in England and his children and very important to him. He won't send them to dubai for schooling and back to Egypt for marriage that was he is quite happy for them to be well educated at the best private schools here.

I wouldn't be shocked to see salah in a Newcastle kit if we continue to force his hand even though he has said lfc is his English club.

Again no other club has an open rw slot for him in spain that would interest him and psg are psg.

Agreed. The mistake was not attempting to sign them up BEFORE the Klopp announcement. (We may well have tried though, plus the players probably knew before we did anyway)

The Klopp announcement happened too early anyway; we were great immediately after but there was a clear deterioration towards the end of the season.

The Trent situation is interesting. I've very much been in the "he'll stay" camp but I'm leaning more towards "he'll leave" now. It's the timing of the announcement that I find intriguing; Real Madrid will want to announce it asap, whereas Trent will want to keep it quiet as long as possible to keep fickle fans off his back. Really is, Trent will get done stick regardless unless there is an announcement that he's signed a new deal.

Who is spending huge money on those 3 with a year left - and whose to say they would actually want to leave when they know if things go badly this year they can walk away for free and get a huge wage and signing on fee this coming summer.

Yes over last few months would have been nice given vvd and Salah saying want to stay and the club doing well to have got this resolved prior to January. But we don’t know what has/hasn’t been offered so can’t judge properly.

The very people who were astute enough to sign Slot are in control so we have to trust that they will do what is best for the club, while the players and their agents, will do whatever is best for themselves. I truly hope that there is middle ground but the club will do what they believe is right for the future of the club. Whether we like it or not tbh.
