this is a lesson. if you are willing in the end to bid 60 on lavia as reported by BBC and sky amd direct quote from Southampton

just do your business early. they had the money.

this is what annoyed me. I said get it done early and they got 2 of 3. OK I said let's see. now here we are with preseason over the start of season compromised and no options we know of but a shed load of cash amd coulda shouldas

We didn't know we were losing Fab and Hendo early in the window.

We are no longer in the same league financially with Manchester United Manchester City Chelsea, Arsenal and even Newcastle United. We have a lot of catching up to do.

We knew full well the week preseason started. we followed in with 3 bids according to southamptons over dof AND the final 60mil bid late.

we had many opportunities to complete that lavia deal or find out he was tapped up. not only that but we were sat on at least 59mil that was available as we bid 111on caicedo and took in 52 on those two you.mentioned.

it's over a month ago we knew what was up. we had ample time to do the deal and we cannot pretend the club didn't try.

our methods were cheap and then panicked as both deals have been commented on publicly by the selling clubs.

apparently knowing where the player is at isn't in our repetoir any more.

there's no point making out we didn't bid and lose any more than rehashing it time and again as we need to pick up the pieces now.

I'm still more worried about the team tactical shape and fitness

Do you really think deals are considered, formulated and finalised in a couple of days then?
We were faced with a problem that hadn't been anticipated (whether or not it should have been is a different argument), we tried to address it - perhaps a little clumsily, perhaps not, who knows?
It's so easy with hindsight to say what we should have done.

If the players were still under contract then you didn't have to sell them. The fact that you did hints at the fact you wanted the money to make changes anyway so must have had some plan in place.

they can be yes.

they are done in hours in preseason

in any event the sequence of events here are very clear the timing of bids on lavia, fabinho and henderson are all out there and now we know precisely how much we had to spend while we were low balling Southampton.

my point was get the deal done but we've failed to do that and then it's very clear we've then decided there's a better option, but failed.

We then ran back and bid 15mil more than we were willing to for the guy we were low balling for.

there's no point, as I said, denying what happened and there's no point not taking a lesson from it.

just who the first choice really was I just don't know.

it didn't feel like we were all in on lavia we were messing round.

the second we had a sniff of cacideo we were all in.

who knows. but it does seem like we are well down the list of preferences by now.

My sister knows someone inside in club - honest! Apparently, he's been to Anfield once. He does all his business from his villa in Spain. Rumour is he's on a six-month contract, and Klopp's mate or not, it won't be renewed. I have a feeling this might be Klopp's last season. :(

Look at his history and the length of time he has been with you.
He goes to a club, builds a great team then for some reason can't refresh it when needed so moves on.
7 years is his usual lifespan.

See, if it was just a "take" you would be right about it being interesting.
Unfortunately it's a fact of his history/career so far and as such should be quite worrying for you.

People /things can change over time though so it's not set in stone <ok> :emoticon-0105-wink:
