Thats just players though.
Chelsea, like all football clubs, generate hundreds of millions in turnover from Sponsors, merchandising.
Like you said, its about cash flow, not just player spend.

The fact that this is where all your minds are, instead of your own affairs is a little bit baffling.
I can't say I ever been that bothered by another clubs accounting.
If we break the rules, then we will get punished.
If we dont, we wont.
I am sure there are tons of loopholes in there too, but seriously this isn't helping your club, being all up in everyone elses ****.

yes thats right and most of that revenue goes straight back out the door in wages. these are not profitable businesses. they break-even.

you've not even got Europe and that's a 100mil hole in revenues.

the facts are simple irrespective of anything else this massive spend (not just chelsea) is inevitably driving every ordinary fan's vills up and making football more and more unaffordable by the masses. that's the problem

Chelsea don't even have a shirt sponsor at the moment. What's that £50-70m per year in revenue they currently don't have a contract for?

Thats been happening more and more since the PL was formed.
And the only way to stop this is to hobble the agents, and the power they have over players, and to set a wage cap for footballers thats consisent throughout all of FIFA's territories.

I wouldn’t trust the FA/Prem to be able to do that tbh <laugh>

I’m don’t get to watch as much football as I used to but it does feel like unless we unearth a gem, I’m not sure who’s left that will be of good enough quality to play for our club.

Well according to some our squad is horrendous so prob 1000’s players that could improve it.

with klopp not without him. with klopp's heavy input into players he'd tracked for years himself.

Yep I do want to stress that I'm not saying that all of our success was down to just Edwards and the nerds.

Klopp is/was a world class manager who got the absolute maximum out of the squad - which was largely assembled by some of the smartest people in the game who had almost a 100% hit rate. When we had Klopp and Edwards working in harmony, it was a match made in heaven.

Which is why it frustrates me so much seeing how we are now because we're a mess on and off the pitch. And it's something that could have been easily avoided had we not decided to deviate from the successful processes we had in place.

I really hope we get our act together and appoint a strong DOF who can implement the strategy, handle recruitment, youth development and contract negotiations. Let Klopp focus purely on coaching because right now, his team selections and tactics don't fill me with much confidence.

they have clearly gone back in for lavia as there's an accepted bid!

chelsea wanted two cms it seems. Adam was all but bought and then they send him back to Leeds. the very next day they agree 55mil for lavia.

we've only gone back to lavia when it was clear (Sunday night) caicedo was gone.

in effect we abandoned lavia leaving him at Southampton after bidding and causing him frustration, he's got a new opportunity to go elsewhere for even more cash at 150k a week for 8 years. 62.4million.

if we has simply paid what Southampton were firm on he'd have signed, played 2 preseason and played for us yesterday.

there's absolutely no way to dodge round this cheslea just laugh as there's no ffp restrictions in the prem as the 5 year thing is only uefa. they will buy and buy and shrug. 170mil in 2 days and vast wages to boot.
There wasn't an accepted bid. Joyce has confirmed that. We made 2 bids only and did not go back in when they were rejected. We didn't bid £60m. Take a look at the only source who said we had a bid accepted this morning.

Funnily enough - Carra is questioning why Edwards and Wards both left ...

The truth will come out at some point. It took a few years to confirm the obvious tension between committee and Rodgers, and I fear we're now heading down the same path.

Joyce is reliable so I will go with what he says but I also can't help but feel that we did bid but are trying to save face.

Either way, it's a shambles.

I know about Tobes (RIP mate <rose>) but not Astro, this been confirmed or just an assumption?

Oh, you could be right. I just remember somebody mentioning it after Covid on the Prem board. Wasn't he disabled or had some condition that made him vulnerable?

Soz if you're looking in Astro. I really miss you if you're ever coming back. :emoticon-0108-speec
