they have clearly gone back in for lavia as there's an accepted bid!

chelsea wanted two cms it seems. Adam was all but bought and then they send him back to Leeds. the very next day they agree 55mil for lavia.

we've only gone back to lavia when it was clear (Sunday night) caicedo was gone.

in effect we abandoned lavia leaving him at Southampton after bidding and causing him frustration, he's got a new opportunity to go elsewhere for even more cash at 150k a week for 8 years. 62.4million.

if we has simply paid what Southampton were firm on he'd have signed, played 2 preseason and played for us yesterday.

there's absolutely no way to dodge round this cheslea just laugh as there's no ffp restrictions in the prem as the 5 year thing is only uefa. they will buy and buy and shrug. 170mil in 2 days and vast wages to boot.

As I say, we tried to be too clever but unfortunately, our clever people have left the club.

Caicedo: honest bid. Too high but we tried. He didn't want to come here. Nothing different could have done.

Lavia: we disagrees with Soton on how much he was worth. Never going to happen.

Nothing gained. Nothing lost (besides time). Neither of those players were even destined to come to us.

Agree that Caicedo was an opportunistic signing. Lavia is a good player - am I too fussed that we missed out on him - no. But am I annoyed that we have spent a month courting him, selling him the dream, then missing out at the last minute.

Am i annoyed that we do not have a number 6? Yes.
Am i annoyed that we're going into another season with an undercooked squad? Yes
Am I annoyed that our world class players are ageing and we're going to waste another year of their career? Yes
Am I annoyed just for the sake of it? Always

They were clever enough to assemble a squad that was good enough to win the CL and PL. That's enough for me.

I'm never that bothered when we miss out on a player or they decide to go somewhere else. Its a players choice at the end of the day.

What will bother me is if we decide that cause we can't have any of the ones we bid on we'll settle for no-one, which is very much within our remit of past years.

Yeah, realised that mate. Just saying it wouldn't be in our best interest though. Plus, I'm fed up of talking about the obvious stuff

Gotta agree with all that personally, although I'm only mild irked as opposed to annoyed by any of it....it's the time missed that hurts most, although hopefully we never stopped looking and hopefully we will still find someone.

I'm remaining optimistic until that window ****s.

Typo... But I'll keep it. (I wrote "sextions" during an online presentation earlier today by mistake... Which wasn't as bad as the time I accidentally wrote my password into the username field... And my password contained the words skankybeast)

Martin Zubimendi, 24, Sociedad. Release Clause £52.8m

Arsenal were looking at him Jan, but he didn't want to move mid-season.

Yeah ideal world that’s how you want things to work. Can’t see this new guy being around come 2nd September and hopefully this summer has shown the club they need to have a rethink and get some perm people in place and start working as a team for why’s best for everyone.

No one person can know everything about everything (insert joke here where someone quotes themselves as an exception) which is why you have specialists and you’d hope no one including klopp is big headed to think they know more about players out there than the scouts etc.

is this season a right off? Not yet, still have 2 weeks left and let’s be honest, although we need more midfielders and cb, the names in that team are good enough to be challenging if they can get a system sorted and players playing well. When on form that first 11 is a match up for anyone.

The club has shown it has money so it can be used as an excuse going forward and if we miss out on CL this year with the changes coming into effect next year going to be even more revenue down and that’s when FSG need to double down.

Being out of Europe doesn’t stop you signing great players. Arsenal and Chelsea have shown that. If the club stump up money then players will come.

with klopp not without him. with klopp's heavy input into players he'd tracked for years himself.

    There ya go.
Tobes (rest his soul) and the other accountant guy from your lot, didnt have a ****ing scooby what they were talking about.
I mean, to me, it sounds whack as **** and clearly not in line with any other financial institution that makes a lick of sense.
But if FFP is being run how Simon just laid it out, then you guys really need to stop clinging to its ankle and hoping it will swoop in and save you.

Think we all know that don’t we? Pretty we documented over last year or so.

It’s all well and good but at some point the spending has to stop or you need a major increase in revenue (stadium naming rights?).

I guess the theory is spend 800m over 3 years with some of that being on 19-23 year olds so that over the next 3-4 years you don’t actually need to buy anyone (or maybe just the odd player). That way you’ve got your 75m going out for the previous years plus another 10-20m for any new player. And then you just need to sell off 2/3 players each year to cover that cost and break even.

The issue is if the 4/5 first teamers they got all turn out **** over next season and need replacing and if you can’t sell them for any where near what you sell for, you’ve still paying off their original transfer fee while having to buy their replacement.

you have to be very careful.

he is stating this in a very particular manner and referring only to the balance sheet. the balance sheet is not the only form of financial document. he is making our ffp is all about thst balance sheet.

the business is about cash flow. 900million out 300 or whatever in is running at a massive loss. so where does the bill come due for all of this.

Does mean absolutely zero tax on profit each year though if keep running at a loss. If shareholders don’t want to take any money out in dividend then all well and good. I imagine chelsea and their owners will be able to get great credit and interest on any loans.

I’m don’t get to watch as much football as I used to but it does feel like unless we unearth a gem, I’m not sure who’s left that will be of good enough quality to play for our club.

    Thats just players though.
Chelsea, like all football clubs, generate hundreds of millions in turnover from Sponsors, merchandising.
Like you said, its about cash flow, not just player spend.

The fact that this is where all your minds are, instead of your own affairs is a little bit baffling.
I can't say I ever been that bothered by another clubs accounting.
If we break the rules, then we will get punished.
    If we dont, we wont.
I am sure there are tons of loopholes in there too, but seriously this isn't helping your club, being all up in everyone elses ****.
