Who was that Brazillian lad who plays in their league we were supposedly looking at?
André Trindade da Costa Neto aka 'André'

Problem is that Fluminese dont play the 2nd leg of their Copa Libertadores QF until the 1st Sept and its unlikely they will want to sell until they're out

He's a Jan window prospect unless they lose the 1st leg by a big score (25th Aug)

Oh, you could be right. I just remember somebody mentioning it after Covid on the Prem board. Wasn't he disabled or had some condition that made him vulnerable?

Soz if you're looking in Astro. I really miss you if you're ever coming back. :emoticon-0108-speec

I honestly don't know mate, still hoping he'll return one day

We've got a database tracking tens of thousands of players all over the world over sustain periods; if there is a player out there, we already know about them

Funnily enough - Carra is questioning why Edwards and Wards both left ...

The truth will come out at some point. It took a few years to confirm the obvious tension between committee and Rodgers, and I fear we're now heading down the same path.
Only yesterday Klopp said "Chelsea manager gets what Chelsea manager wants" - or words to that effect. The implication being that Liverpool manager doesn't.
That in itself casts a major doubt over your theory for me.

Joyce is reliable so I will go with what he says but I also can't help but feel that we did bid but are trying to save face.

Either way, it's a shambles.
Look at who's posting all the "Liverpool bid this and that ..." posts and you will see a commonality.

For your 'shambles' I see bullets dodged. £170m on two players, one a teenager, and both with barely any league games. Really?

We need more players and it's taking it's time but I'm more interested in winning games than transfer windows. Let's see where we are in two weeks.

Lots of fans like to play at being manager but it's something I've never been into.
It's ok I suppose, but the problem comes when real life doesn't turn out the way you have it in your head. If you expect others to do exactly what you would then you're just lining yourself up for disappointment.
I just prefer to watch the games rather than get myself worked up over the other stuff.

I'm never that bothered by who we miss out on and am far more interested in who we actually get in (or don't...) by the end of the window. We missed out on Bellingham, but most seem fairly happy with Mac and Dom so far. We missed out on Caicedo and Lavia, but the important thing is who we do get in before the end of the window. It looks like the club has identified a need; I would be surprised if absolutely no-one comes.

FSG are culpable as well. But it was Klopp who decided to spend £100m on Nunez and Gakpo - two players who don't profile very well. Klopp was also the one who wanted to sacrifice strengthening the team for almost 2 years because he only wanted Jude and Tchouameni.

This is collective failure - from the owners to the Klopp

The reason why we're bidding £170m in the first place is because we neglected the squad for several years when we should have been slowly strengthening and finding replacements for the ageing stars. Klopp was the one who wasted summers for Tchouameni and Jude instead of pursuing cheaper but still very good options because he was hell bent on his number 1 target - if we go back to the Edwards days, if we couldn't get our number 1 target, we simply move onto the next - and quite a few of those were not Klopp's first choice.

Winning games unfortunately now goes hand in hand with transfer windows. Again, the reason why we struggled last season is because we let the squad get stale due to a lot of inactivity in the transfer market. And we're facing the same issues yet again this window.

So if you want to start winning games, 1 of 2 things needs to happen:

1) We recruit at least 2 new players to help mitigate the structural issues with this new system (a LCB and DM)

and / or

2) Klopp needs to coach this group of players a lot better. Because no matter how old the team was, we should not have been as poor as we were last season.

We cannot compete with three clubs in the transfer market including Chelsea. It is time for FSG to face reality and start to compete if they want success, success does not come cheap these days.

or sell to a sugar daddy - that’s effectively the only way that we can compete tbh.

Is everyone happy being sold to the Saudi’s?
