yes thats right and most of that revenue goes straight back out the door in wages. these are not profitable businesses. they break-even. you've not even got Europe and that's a 100mil hole in revenues. the facts are simple irrespective of anything else this massive spend (not just chelsea) is inevitably driving every ordinary fan's vills up and making football more and more unaffordable by the masses. that's the problem
Chelsea don't even have a shirt sponsor at the moment. What's that £50-70m per year in revenue they currently don't have a contract for?
Thats been happening more and more since the PL was formed. And the only way to stop this is to hobble the agents, and the power they have over players, and to set a wage cap for footballers thats consisent throughout all of FIFA's territories.
a CL, PL, FA cup and a few others would argue otherwise. we’ve lost our way for sure though and n don’t think we’ll get it back anytime soon.
Yep I do want to stress that I'm not saying that all of our success was down to just Edwards and the nerds. Klopp is/was a world class manager who got the absolute maximum out of the squad - which was largely assembled by some of the smartest people in the game who had almost a 100% hit rate. When we had Klopp and Edwards working in harmony, it was a match made in heaven. Which is why it frustrates me so much seeing how we are now because we're a mess on and off the pitch. And it's something that could have been easily avoided had we not decided to deviate from the successful processes we had in place. I really hope we get our act together and appoint a strong DOF who can implement the strategy, handle recruitment, youth development and contract negotiations. Let Klopp focus purely on coaching because right now, his team selections and tactics don't fill me with much confidence.
There wasn't an accepted bid. Joyce has confirmed that. We made 2 bids only and did not go back in when they were rejected. We didn't bid £60m. Take a look at the only source who said we had a bid accepted this morning.
Funnily enough - Carra is questioning why Edwards and Wards both left ... The truth will come out at some point. It took a few years to confirm the obvious tension between committee and Rodgers, and I fear we're now heading down the same path.
Yes. You're always going on about the source. No matter how many articles, there is only one source. Look at the source for this one.
Joyce is reliable so I will go with what he says but I also can't help but feel that we did bid but are trying to save face. Either way, it's a shambles.
Rumour has it that we may be signing Elvis Costello as apparently he does not want to go to Chelsea. One for the older members there
Oh, you could be right. I just remember somebody mentioning it after Covid on the Prem board. Wasn't he disabled or had some condition that made him vulnerable? Soz if you're looking in Astro. I really miss you if you're ever coming back.
Wouldn't surprise me if we got somebody I've never heard of for a (relative) pittance. Mind you, I'd be equally unsurprised if we got nobody.
