exactly.

there is absolutely no way we bid for someone who categorically says they don’t want to join us. Klopp has been adamant on that from day one. And we never bid, let alone for a world record fee, on someone who has not given us some assurances they are willing to join us.

I'm afraid we must have mate, otherwise we'd be in an even worse position hanging on after he rejected us after promising us he'd come. Christ, that's even worse than the narrative now. I knew Klopp was dejected this morning, but if that was the case I'd have expected him to say '****, no - tell him no way after he promised us last night".

I read a suggestion earlier that Chelsea could try and use Colwill as a make weight in the deal

Ok what mainstream media? Send us some links please.

Maybe because waiting to see if chelsea match the bid?

If you had 2 job offers, would you turn one down before you got the contract for the other? No, you’d wait for all the offers to be made and then make a decision. If that second offer for your fav job doesn’t come around, doesn’t mean you won’t accept the first.

If you bid on 2 houses and were waiting and had a fav and 2nd choice and your fav was turned down. Would you not go through with second one?
Not sure how to link to radio and telly.

Actually I just thought.....maybe he has told them. Even if he did Brighton arent going to make that public, because if Liverpool pull out that puts them at a disadvantage in their negotiations with Chelsea.
My feeling is though, that if he WAS willing to go to Liverpool AT ALL, why wouldnt he have gone and had the medical and agreed terms so it was all ready to go if Chelsea pulled out?

Gah this is ****ing with my head

Terms come before the medical. For all we know, terms could be being discussed still

The last time we went through some **** like this was over Obi Mikel and this is giving me PTSD flashbacks to that.
Also, he turned out to be a pile of ****, so I hope thats not foreshadowing.

Dream on, but if Brighton said £90m + Colwill, then sold us Colwill for £30m I'd shine my helmet. I truly never wanted Caceido at that price anyway, and getting lavia and Colwill for a combined £80m would be fantasmagorical. but 'tis just a dream to be fair. Reality is that all 3 players will ****ing end up at Chelsea instead. <cry>

Gonna see how the Spuds are coping without Harry :bandit:

Must confess that one surprised me because i really didn't think he would move out of England.
Me either.
I havent really been able to bantz the Spurs fans either because all this **** has distracted me from it.
But.....

Well thats up to Brighton, not you.

All of this is moot, because none of you know whether Caicedo is REFUSING to go to Liverpool, or if he would just PREFER to go to Chelsea.
Like if Chelsea dropped out now, would he say **** it and stay at Brighton, or go to Liverpool?
He has a contract so Brighton cannot make him leave against his will. My feeling is he wants Chelsea but will take Liverpool, and Liverpool know this, and thats why they haven't withdrawn their bid.
Do Chelsea still want him now? Because if so WTF haven't we upped our bid?

God, I hope you're wrong. This whole episode is humiliating enough without having our record transfer fee player with us only because his dream move fell through. I think Liverpool are only hanging on in a mixture of forlorn hopelessness and twisted spite. And now we've lost Lavia too. Just cannot believe we put a bid in of that size without checking the player and his agents out. Amateur hour.

This is just your theory though, and you’re driving yourself mad with it!

Come on, we aren’t too bad at transfers - do you seriously think no **** has spoken to anyone over there?

He’s gotten a bit jittery and asked if Chelsea are actually still an option? Is what it is, and I’d imagine we’re STILL in contact and giving reassurances

Have I missed something where caicedo has come out and said he doesn’t want to go to lfc?

Im not sure why everyone is suddenly taking a reported comment by a a journalist who Brighton fans will tell you seems to have an agenda against them, as gospel.

Until Caicedo actually confirms he doesn’t want to go to lfc himself, then take it with a punch of salt.

If he’s told lfc he doesn’t want to come, then fair enough. Klopp won’t want him and the club will walk away, but probably do it quietly informing Brighton hierarchy so chelsea don’t think they can low ball offer
You are right Bisc
If we believe what is being put out there (ftr I don’t believe anyone knows) but let’s say pick sky
And they have made it very clear all he has said is he prefers Chelsea but if they don’t match the bid he will goto Liverpool

now for me that statement is enough for me to not want him - but I trust our club
If they believe it will work then cool

we can’t just cherry pick who we are listening to
Personally I just waiting for the outcome lol

The other explanation that’s out there, no idea if true but judging by agents actions coukd be, is they phoned lfc and said he’d be interested to get us to bid to force chelsea to up their offer so he gets a bigger pay day. Unlikely but never know in the world of **** agents

tbh, I don't know where they got Mount, Fernandez, and Amrabat from, but the other four are fair - we went after them and they rejected us. This, unfortunately, is what we've become. :emoticon-0112-wonde
