The thing is we haven't been a destination club for quite some time, therefore when a gem appears like Coutinho, we're not 'big enough' to hold onto them. Ironically, if he stayed we have more chance of becoming that club. I really hope he stays.

yep like Southampton we are to an extent a stepping stone in a players career it is just we are a higher up in the food chain.
I reckon the player is probably a good egg, and I don't think he'll go on strike, whether he stays or not will come down to your Shermans.

In all honesty how many players wouldn't want a move to Barcelona. They waited a year for Suarez, would that happen in Coutinho's case, not so sure. He's got to be thinking the same thing, 'will they still want me in a year?' Shame if he goes as Klopp's starting to get things together. But .... he is replaceable. Suarez wasn't

I think the difference is Everton are a selling club, we're not. They seem to sell willingly for big money to finance a few more players because the owner doesn't seem to want to put his hand in his pocket. We sell reluctantly because the lure of Barcelona is too much to resist.
