The thing is we haven't been a destination club for quite some time, therefore when a gem appears like Coutinho, we're not 'big enough' to hold onto them. Ironically, if he stayed we have more chance of becoming that club. I really hope he stays.
That's pretty much what was said about 3 weeks ago. If deal can be done he's happy to go. But won't rock the boat if lfc. Don't want to sell. Balls in our court, refuse to sell and he'll stay. They can't force us to like we couldn't force saints or RBL
yep like Southampton we are to an extent a stepping stone in a players career it is just we are a higher up in the food chain.
I reckon the player is probably a good egg, and I don't think he'll go on strike, whether he stays or not will come down to your Shermans. Moneyball lol.
After he's probably player at the tournament at the World Cup they'll still want him Will Coutinho still want them if they spend another year behind Real and a repeat of last year's CL campaign which was a total disgrace
Ideally we'll sell him (if we have to sell him at all) to PSG for £100m next summer. Or £80m, as it's not Barca.
That's the fear. Have FSG learned anything from when we were fisted with spiky glove by Barca three years ago?
Not the same scenario, 2 years and 1 year left on the contracts of Rom and Ross. We had no choice with either as they refused new contracts, and Ross is still there btw. Coutinho has 5 and half years on his deal.
Will he though? If that's a fact then the story is already a dead duck, as he's made his views on it crystal clear.
Has to be said, even though you sold Lukaku to a rival, £90m given the length of his contract is ****ing incredible business.
I think the difference is Everton are a selling club, we're not. They seem to sell willingly for big money to finance a few more players because the owner doesn't seem to want to put his hand in his pocket. We sell reluctantly because the lure of Barcelona is too much to resist.
