1. Berahino was playing well until I said something, he seemed to go quiet after that <laugh>

But yeah, he looks good. With the right guidance he could become a very good player.

I suppose you could say the same for Lallana, Sterling, etc too (assuming you mean because of the name)

Sterling isn't an English sounding name? It's our bloody currency (apart from the different spelling <whistle>)

  8. Liverpool agree fee for Dele Alli

Liverpool have successfully fended off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal and will now sign MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli - dubbed the ‘English Messi’ - after an £8 million fee was agreed.

This is according to the Express, who report that the transfer will become official on January 1.

Alli set to be loaned back to MK Dons

It’s understood that Alli is likely to be loaned back to League One outfit MK Dons for the remainder of the 2014/15 campaign, similar to the deal Manchester United struck with Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha in 2013.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, however, will be hoping to England Under-19 international Alli adjusts to life at Anfield better than Zaha managed at Old Trafford.

One of English football's brightest prospects

Alli, a 6ft 2in midfielder, is widely considered one of the most gifted young footballers outside of the Premier League.

He showcased his immense talent in MK Dons’ now famous 4-0 victory over Manchester United in the second round of the Capital One Cup earlier this season, which further convinced a host of top Premier League clubs to pursue their interest in the gifted teenager.

Alli signed new MK Dons deal last month

Every interested club, including Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, were dealt a blow last month when Alli penned a new three-year contract with MK Dons; however, it seems this was merely an attempt by the Football League club to ensure they received the best possible price for the player in January.

That Alli will return to Stadium MK for the second half of the season will satisfy manager Karl Robinson, who hopes to secure promotion to the Championship next spring.

    Robinson resigned to losing Alli

Robinson admitted after Alli penned his new deal with MK Dons that the club were powerless to hold on to such a talented young player.

He told the club’s official website: "Dele will continue to be linked with some of the world’s biggest clubs and it’s inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever.

"However, for the time being, he remains an MK Dons player and we’ll continue to enjoy watching him progress week-in, week-out here at stadium MK.”

Alli has been watched regularly by Liverpool scouts over the past 12 months and Rodgers, having received favourable feedback, has now decided to make his move.

    Future bright for Liverpool

The Northern Irish coach has endured a difficult start to the new season without talismanic striker Luis Suarez, who joined Barcelona in the summer, and last season’s Premier League runners-up currently sit 14th in the table having picked up a disappointing seven points fro their opening six league matches.

The Reds have also struggled in the Champions League. They only just sneaked past European minnows Ludogorets in their first match back in Europe’s premier club competition for almost five years, while the Merseyside outfit produced a hugely disappointing performance during Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat to Basel.

But with Alli signed up, and the hugely exciting Belgium international Divock Origi also set to arrive at Anfield in 2015, the future looks bright for both Rodgers and Liverpool.

Sounds like a good deal. We must raise him better than Shelvey. Though Shelvey has turned out pretty well.

£8m for a young player in League 1 who has had 1 1/5 good seasons.

Not saying he wont become a very good player, by all accounts he seems to be a very promising player and probably should be playing in the Champ, but just shows how overpriced young English talent is.

£8m is a good deal. Look at the stick we got for paying to much for Sterling and that has turned out OK. We can't afford to wait for talent to reach its full potential and then pay £40/50m for it like City, Utd & Chelsea can. We have to try and spot it earlier and pay £8/15m and bring it on.

A lot of this type of buy does not work (Aspas, Pacheco, Shelvey etc) but we can always get most of our money back by selling on, or even make a small profit as the player has matured and value increased even if they never reach their full potential they showed earlier in their careeer

Look who knows. It's a gamble on a talent. If it comes off the scouts and team have done their jobs. If not well it's a half a balotelli

There's a huge difference however between this sort of up and coming gamble and a aspas gamble

We turned a profit on shelvey, this one might, can looks cheap, origi looks cheap but none have done a thing for us but I'd rather these than a guy who'd not play championship

OX chamberlain and Walcott both cost more remember top

Sterling cost us 500k... don't really think we got any stick for that?

And I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but £8m for a player in League 1... probably makes him most expensive player in league 1?

I'm not sure how you can put Aspas & Pacheco in the same type of buy. One was a 16 year old we got for peanuts from an academy, the other was 26 and played plenty of full seasons and cost £7m

With the ones you spend 3 or 4 mil on like Shelvey, you can get your money back if don't quite work out but £8m is a lot to get back.

Didn't Fulham or someone pay £10m for a striker in Div 1 or was he championship?

We did get stick for paying so much for Sterling when he was so young and unproven, £600k rising to £5m based on appearances.

McCormack. Was top scorer in the Champ for Cardiff last year.

I don't remember anyone saying too much about what we paid for Sterling to be honest. £600k initial fee is nothing and the rising to £5m is only ever paid if he does well so you're happy to pay it.

Victor Valdes is apparently having a medical and trial this week ahead of signing. The deal will be till the end of the season, with an agreement already in place for a long term deal in the summer if he does well.

Rumours also say we will move for Casillas (I assume in January) should Valdes fail a medical (or possibly in the summer if Valdes is unsuccessful for us).

Two keepers that would have been amazing coups a few years ago.

Still, either one probably an improvement.

Keepers can play on a lot longer than outfield players though, and peak later.

Mignolet is very young for a keeper a a big club. Though with Coutois, De Gea and Hart we can see keepers are getting younger.

Liverpool have agreed a £38million deal with Real Madrid to sign striker Karim Benzema, according to reports.

The Reds have been looking at Benzema in the last few days as they aim to sign a world class striker during the January transfer window.

And after Madrid told them they can have the player for £38million, the Daily Star says a deal has now been agreed for that price.

Benzema is not believed to have sorted out personal terms yet or held any talks with Liverpool, but Brendan Rodgers seems keen to tie up everything quickly, ahead of the Frenchman’s arrival on January 1st.
