I fear that the Suarez incident may cause second thoughts among the Real and Barca hierarchy and he may opt to stay at Liverpool who now can offer CL football and maybe a decent pop at the league.

Meh, traditionally Spurs fans are the ones to use the hope of an opponent becoming weaker rather than getting themselves getting better as their sole method of optimism. Don't drop to their level ;)

I'd rather Suarez stayed. The league is stronger with more world class players in it. If we can't beat Liverpool with Suarez in then we need to get better.

Even in his 'moment' of wonder against Colombia, he still stumbled through about 17 challenges and rarely looked in full control of the ball.. and his finish was a shanked instep hit. All in all, the phrase 'a broken clock is right twice a day' sums Gervinho up.

That's the genius of Gervinho...

I'd love us to sign Sanchez, great player and the quality we need to bring into the team. Not to mention him being a natural wide man.

Despite absolutely no mention of Balotelli from Wenger, I wonder if fans will be up in arms if we don't sign him ?

For all we know Wenger might want to steer well clear of him, given his disciplinary record and attitude problems.

I'd love it if Wenger didn't sign him. Much better players out there, with far less psychological issues.

Does anyone really care who we sign as long as a couple are real first team quality and that they come in in time for some pre-season?

I agree.
We can all have an opinion on player x or player y but I'd guess that very few of us watch enough of the Drazlers, Sanchez's and Balotelli's playing to have a firm view on which would best suit Arsenal.
AW certainly knows more than me so I'll back his judgement, but I get the impression there's is a new desire to add serious quality, I read the other day that we agreed terms with Bayern and player to sign Robben last year only for Pep to join and stop the deal, encouraging that's the quality we're aiming for....

So if not Balotelli then who ?

I've maintained since the middle of last season that we should go for Mandzukic and I still hope that Wenger signs him, but I've also been really impressed with Benzema at this tournament after not really rating his performances at Real.
