He was good against us in the Champions League this season too. Versatile player also as he can play on the left or right up front

Laurent Koscielny tells Arsene Wenger to sign FOUR players including a top striker

"We'll need a goalkeeper, a right back, a midfielder and a striker," said Koscielny at France's pre-World Cup training camp.

"It's important to have a minimum of these four players so that we'll be better able to challenge over the course of a whole season against teams like Manchester City, Chelsea or [Manchester] United. Winning the FA Cup can change things and lead to other players coming."

"Yes, we need to recruit a very, very good striker, because it's important for us, for competition for places, because Olivier needs that to become even better," said Koscielny.

"Having a striker who scores more than 30 goals a season can help us win the Premier League. Compared to the squads like Manchester City, even United, Chelsea. ... You can see there's a certain difference."

Looks like one of our main players has come out with what all of us have been saying for a while. But the likelihood of us buying 4 top players, let alone 2 is not happening (i'm referring to top quality and not bargain basement buys) . He also has an indirect dig at Giroud, saying he needs the competition bollocks. Which really translates to he's too **** for us.

I like Kos, obviously knows his football, not one mention of Pool

From SSN:

Former Arsenal midfielder Perry Groves is urging Arsene Wenger not to sign Cesc Fabregas. He thinks Arsenal already have enough cover in midfield and they shouldn’t stand in the way of him joining Chelsea.

Perry Groves said:
If you need to spend £35m, you need to spend it on where you need to strengthen in the team... some clubs in the past could afford to [buy players to stop others from buying them] but Arsenal can't because they're run on a tight financial budget.

I hate to say it but I think Groves is right. As much as it would rankle to see Cesc in a Chav shirt, Arsenal need to concentrate our spending on strengthening other positions and a creative mid isn't one of them. I'd love to see him back at Arsenal but I just don't think it's going to happen.

A) he'll bring quality to the squad. B) he'll add depth in a vital area. C) he knows the club & league so there's no settling in period. D) he is a superstar name & will take some of the pressure off Ozil. E) he'll pay back a significant amount of his fee in merch & sponsorship deals as he's extremely well known. F) he'll help to attract other players. what striker wouldn't want to play alongside Ozil, Fabregas, Theo. It's an absolute no-brainer to me. Arsenal are in a fantastic financial position & can easily afford to spend big this summer. They need to buy to compete for the title.

I actually agree with this! I guess its understandable though, some of the 'journos' stuff actually comes true!

it is only mathematical probabilities that they get one right eventually ! if they start 100 different rumours and then counter rumours, like Cesc will join Chelsea then Cesc won't join Chelsea they cover both angles and then at least one story will be right. they are a bunch of ****s really

I know I keep going on about it but..
In another 12 months when Arteta and possibly Rosicky leave the Club. Do you think we will manage to sign another midfielder of Fabregas's quality?

Don't forgot we only brought Arteta in after failing to land Mata and Goetze.

For me Fabregas is a rare World Class player we can actually sign.

Also if he signs for Chelsea I don't see us getting anywhere near them in the league next Season.

I completely agree with all of that and I really hope we re-sign him. But my feeling is that with us needing to spend on a CF, RB and DM. Fabregas will not be seen as a priority. I hope I'm wrong and we see Cesc back in an Arsenal shirt next season <ok>

I should add that Perry also said that the team already has enough creative players in Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey, Rosicky and Wilshere and thinks that a 'combative, physically strong' centre mid, a striker, a right back and a keeper are more important.

For me, if Arteta was going to be midfielder to make way for a new signing then you'd hope that the replacement would also be able to contribute defensively at a similar high level - Arteta was the top tackler and second top interceptor in the squad last year - and allow Ramsey to get forward as much as he did (and so effectively too) last season. If Cesc can fit into this role then I'm all for it, but there are surely more natural candidates out there. I also don't see him wanting to come over to play squad rotation with Ozil and Ramsey, to play as little as Rosicky currently does, though I guess it depends on why he supposedly wants to leave Barca.

As bear has alluded to, both Arteta and Rosicky are on the way out and Wilshere's injuries are becoming increasingly more common. In all honesty, Cesc would walk into our midfield with only Ramsey and Ozil holding up to his level of quality. The point of a squad is to have enough players to last the whole season, this season we clearly struggled when Ramsey went out. Other than Ozil, Cazorla struggled to fill in the gap and played below his potential and Wilshere was either injured or playing below par too.

Also, It may be Ozil's first season but I think the pressure of expectations were weighing down on him, especially when Ramsey was out. Having a player of Cesc's stature in the team would give Ozil the support he needs.

See we are being linked to Grenier again today and also Schneiderlin.

Hardly the midfield powerhouse most fans/pundits think we need. I'm gonna be soo pissed if we opt out of signing Fabregas and end up signing another mid-level French midfielder

I think you could use any combo of the words Runt-Lightweight-French to sum these up
Does Wenger Never Learn I still get the Screaming SH+ts remembering Pascal Cygan.
Arsene for the love of god Sign Cesc.

Balotelli and Remy anyone?

Balotelli could be a genius signing. The more I think about it the more it makes sense. He's certainly a player with the ability to be one of the World best.

Risky though.. he could be a complete disaster. Somehow I could see Wengers 'fatherly' approach to managing as the right way to get the best out of a mad man like Mario.

Remy on the other hand... Seems like a waist of money. I would take him as a third choice but he's no better than Podolski or Walcott down the middle.
