Actually I believe Amy is spot on.
I have said this many times on these boards our lack of spending has not been purely down to financial restriction.
If you dont believe Wenger does'nt like spending money on transfers you are in complete denial.
The man has admitted as much in NUMEROUS interviews.
I think he is in his own world but as Treat said, it's more down to him not wanting to spend big. Which means, more than his evaluation. Although I do agree that the transfer fees paid nowadays are ludicrous, this however won't help bring in the quality we need to challenge. Take Cazorla for example, in the current market, he is worth at least around £25m, we bought him for considerably less. We were frankly lucky with that one and I genuinely believe that not many clubs caught wind on how good this guy is. Had any of he top clubs picked up on this, then we would have missed out. Anyone who knows about La Liga would know how good Cazorla is. My friend who is an avid La Liga watcher and works part-time for Opta said to me that we got a great bargain on him and that he was a very good player. Low and behold, he was our best player all season. No surprise that he is our best player by some distance.
