So by your logic we could sign Messi, Ronaldo, Casillas, Fabregas and Iniesta and it'd be a failed window because they came in to late? Think you might change your mind depending on who coems in. Can't judge it a failure until it's over tbh.

We alsohave no ideawho our REAl transfer targets are and how far along those dealsare. And to top it offwe have NO idea what could be holding those transfers up e.g. the selling club, the player, the players agent, legalities about clausses etc... There could be countless perfectly viable and acceptable reasons for slow transfer activity.

I'd give it until it closes before you decide its an unacceptable failure from Arsenal :P

If you have no idea of your targets then there two possibilites;
1. Arsenal have developed the greatest privacy practices of any football club so that there are no information leaks
2. there is little or nothing actually being done to buy players

If all of this Suarez stuff is a smokescreen for Messi turning up in time for the Emirates cup final, then I will say well played Wenger, well played <ok>

If we are going to talk about my logic then maybe we should look at things realistically. Realistically I can see us bringing in Suarez, Julio Cesar and Ashley Williams. That will not be enough and they will have been brought in too late if they do not feature in the Emirates Cup. Should that happen then yes, this window as far as I am concerned is a failure. I truly don't give a monkey's ass who we lose off the wage bill because it looks like the club is not serious about reinvesting that money in much needed world class players.

All If's and Buts right now - yet you still choose to stand by your window failure argument...

Realistically we have no idea who we are trying to bring in adn who will be here come the end of the transfer window. So deciding that in your head you've decided what we might get and judging Arsenal based on that seems a little OTT.

I can understand you bringing up the importance of the pre-season but just think your going a little far to suggest it won't matter who we get in it will have been afailure, especially when you have no diea the circumstances surrounding our transfer dealings.

@astro

Several of our signings happen with no previous masses of transfer gossip leading up to them. In fact it is very rare that we actully sign anyone who we have been heavily linked to. Players like Mata for example we lost out on after being heavily linked with a mover, wheras Cazorla came in with barely any knowledge of him goign to bearriving at the club, it was all sorted very quickly.

So again i'd say your post is entirely opinion and not very useful without more information as to what is actually going on. No way based on the info we have that we can place all the blame with Wenger as you appear to be saying.

Well Robin Van Persie, Fabregas, Wilshere and I'm sure Nasri may have reached a high level under Wenger. Then there's Sczezney, Ramsey, Jenkinson and Chamberlain all capable of becoming TOP Class players.
The reason for that though - is that many of our most talented players have left us. (our own fault for not addressing squad weaknesses)

We're an attacking side and therefore lack REAL genuine quality upfront. A big signing is needed both for the squad and the fans.

Oh yeah I've forgotten about RVP, It must be my suppressed memory kicking into action. Not sure Nasri reached a higher level as he was quality when we got him. He has since failed to establish himself for Man City, even before they bought all those players. He now has next to no chance of being first team. Agreed that RVP, Wilshere and Fabs were bettered playing for us. Many more have flopped recently for my liking though and a few have developed very slowly eg. Walcott, Gibbs etc.

Yes we really need more attacking quality.

It could be worse. We could have taken kolo toure to shore up our defence.

He's doing a good job so far. And he came on a free. Could be worse, we could have paid £28.6m for Santos, Squillaci, Denilson and Arshavin just to let them walk away for free after a few years of embarassment.

I'll take your Santos, Squillaci, Denilson and Arshavin and raise you a Henderson, Downing, Adam and Carroll. Theres's over 20M loss before Downing (20M) and Henderson (16-20M) get ****canned.

Well, I am not very surprised that we haven't signed anyone yet. We do care about money as a club and anyone selling to Arsenal are not going to let players go at a sensible price, unless they have exhausted the market.

There is always the possibility that Wenger thinks he can win stuff with this squad. He does have the numbers. If you see Sagna as a decent CB, and Ox as a holding mid, then we have one or two replacements for every position. If you look through rose-coloured glasses then you can see a scenario where everything will be fine.

The only place where we are a bit light is Walcott's position on the right. When he is out, none of Ox, Rosicky, Ramsey, Cazorla, or Podolski really convince there.
