He's our best player, he and Shaw are the only two members of our squad at the minute who could perform in the Champions league in the future/become world class. Schneiderlin's defensive capabilities are well documented in football circles at the minute but his passing is also sublime. He's like a more mobile Xabi Alonso (although admittedly not quite as good).

He's only just signed a long term contract so he's not likely to leave us unless it was a ridiculous amount of money. We're talking 30m+, we're rich enough to turn down anything less for our best player if you ask me.

I like Schneiderlin, but no way is he worth anywhere near 30 million. I know that your chairman is notorious when it comes to making people overpay for your players (good for him, we could do with someone equally ballsy), but 30 million would buy Fabregas back, and i know who i'd rather have.

Yeah that's my point. Because we're rich, finally in the prem and he's our best player we could hold out for a ridiculous figure for him. He's not worth 30mil to you but he is to us.

If we do go after him, you will face exactly the problems we had with Fabregas, RVP and Nasri. If the player wants to move, there will not be any way you can hold onto him, and 30M is waaaay too much. If Southampton get a reputation for holding players against their will then players will not want to join the club. While it might seem to be an indication of strength and manliness and a sign of "ambition" it actually acts in reverse.

Players, particularly young ones like Schneiderlin, will be happy to stay if they're on a good contract and settled. If Pochettino thinks it will be very difficult to replace him then the price will be high. Probably not £30mill but high teens or early 20s in terms of £million demands.

Yes, I agree, if he is happy or doesn't want to play for Arsenal for some reason.

if he was english then you might be able to hold out for £30 million in the premier league. the fact that he's not halves his transfer price in this country.

We have a load of Germans already, and none of them have stepped up. We should get rid of Podolski, Mertesacker, Eisfeld, Gnabry and Zelalem not bring in more.

OK, i was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt, but that comment was just stupid.

Podolski has scored a decent number of goals in limited appearances, Mertesacker has been a rock, Eisfeld and Gnabry look talented, and Zelalem is American, so doesn't count.

The mediocrity of these players is what is holding us back. All the best Germans are at Bayern and Dortmund and ungettable. The rest are not good enough for a great team like Arsenal.
