Maybe we're relying on averages and stuff.....on draxler I would think he's probably a backup to jovetic and a good one at that. Physically he's very well developed and supposed to be good in the air too not to mention has great dribbling ability. Moved to the center once holtby left and has excelled. Safer option than jovetic IMO. Eisfeld may still make it but has been very poor recently with about 4-5 other players out performing him at youth level. Why would you want to sign a player for a position where you already have a very good one and move that guy out of position to accommodate the new signing?
Wouldn't you be better of signing someone who plays in that position instead?

This probably won't be a popular opinion but I'd rather have us sign Gomez over Jovetic.
1. He'd be cheaper. More money left to improve other areas of the team
2. Much better goal scorer than Jovetic and is at his peak
3. Jovetic would take a few more years to reach his best level and at that point he'd probably want a move to Barca/Madrid etc

Gomez is in the Giroud mold so I'd rather we got a different mold of striker.
Not really. The only similar thing about them is their size, otherwise Gomez is a totally different type of striker.
I wouldn't object to signing him though I think their in the same mold but opinions differ from person to person.

He's top notch, but would he leave Dortmund for Arsenal? He only has a year left on his contract but surely one of the giant teams must snap him up?

Well he's 24 and keeps getting better. If we can, we should. I can't shake the Shearer comparison for him atm.
I'm glad someone else actually appreciates Gomez.
The guy is an out and out goalscorer and is definitely one of the most underrated strikers out there.
But I would still prefer more of an 'all-rounder' rather than a straight up target man.
Arsenal need to realise a big name signing is exactly what this club needs. Why not just bite the bullet and make a move for Falcao or Cavani?
What annoys me is that we always shy away from competing with the big clubs for players.

You were obviously listening to the wrong people.
Chelsea have some quality creative talent a TOP class striker would make a big difference to that team.
For every falcao there can also be a torres, it would be one hell of a gamble to spend 40 -55 million on one player, considering we would probably have to pay that player 200K plus a week, thats over 10 million a year just in wages.
Looks like the Jovetic deal may be gaining some momentum. Lots of reports stating negotiations have started.
I think he would be a good/potentially great signing. Jovetic has all the attributes to be a World beater - if Wenger can get some consistency out of him he will be a great signing. Technically superb and has the ability to embarrass defenders.
