Wilfried Zaha's transfer from Crystal Palace to either Manchester United or Arsenal could be resolved by the start of next week. Although David Gill, the United chief executive, said this week there was still some way to go regarding whether Zaha might sign for the club, there is optimism at Palace that the transfer could be completed by Monday. It is understood that, while United remain in pole position, Arsenal are also trying to buy the winger, whose final price may be around £10m. Arsenal were thought to have fell well behind in the race for his signature but Wenger said on Thursday: "We are looking at him, but at the moment we have not made a bid for him." That both United and Arsenal have now publicly confirmed their interest is being taken as a sign that Zaha's transfer could be nearing its completion. If he is sold, the buyer is being asked to loan him straight back to Palace for the remainder of the season with two or three other players from the parent club joining Palace on loan as well until then to help with the promotion push.
