And more updates:

Ornstein has confirmed we are interested in David Luiz. (What an awful signing...)

Eddie nketiah likely going to Leeds

We will sell Iwobi to Everton if we receive a suitable offer.

Actually think Luiz would be a decent stop gap for a year.

My main issue is, at the age of 32, he will want one last massive payday and he will be on hefty wages. Whilst he is a progressive passer of the ball, and creates a lot of chances (considering he's a centre-half), his defensive capabilities are questionable.

I don't know if this would be a good idea.

im calling it right now - if we sign Luiz he will be the worst defender we have signed during the past 15 years. (yes even worse than mustafi and squillaci)

I don't know really. He won't be coming to Arsenal for the wages, he'd probably have to take a pay cut to be honest. Defensively he can be suspect, but he's a decent ball playing CB and one that can bring the ball out of defence and link up with our MF, something Sokratis can't do.

I'd take him on a loan or a 1 year deal until Saliba arrives.

There's no chance Chelsea will allow this to happen! <laugh>

We are their rivals and he is one of their most influential players in the dressing room. He signed a two-year contract extension with them a few months ago. They would want us to pay a fortune I guarantee it.

Also, I've looked at our outgoings this window and, even though we've not got rid of all the deadwood yet, I think we've done a pretty good job so far.

Carl Jenkinson, Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Stephan Lichtsteiner, David Ospina, Danny Welbeck, Takuma Asano, Krystian Bielik, Aaron Ramsey (not exactly deadwood but hey).

Then youth players like Pleguezuelo, Bramall, Amaechi & Gilmour that have departed, too.

That's a decent clear out. We actually got £10m for Bielik too. If we can get rid of Elneny and Mustafi too, then that's basically most of the deadwood gone.

done well to get rid of all those. Ramsey as well - he was a very average player that played for this club for far too long. He will be at Juventus for two-three years as a bit part player and will then end up on loan at Cardiff in the championship.

You heard it here first.

Sky saying they expect Tierney and Luiz to be Arsenal players by the 5pm deadline tomorrow.

So that's potentially: Martinelli, Ceballos, Saliba, Pepe, Tierney and Luiz as our new signings.

What would you rate this window as if this happens?

Pretty good 7/10 - Would be 8 if Saliba could join immediately.

David Luis fee is only £8 Million. I think its a good signing. Adding an experienced League winner.
Tierney looks quality and £25 Million is pretty good in this market.

Looks like Rugani and Upamecano are too expensive for this window. So unless Iwobi goes for mega money and we shift Mustafi we will most likely be signing Luiz instead.

Not sure how I feel about that. I didn’t expect us to have the funds for a big signing in defence but is Luiz the answer? Or at least a decent option for a year or two?

And I can’t see Coutinho happening. Although if Iwobi went a last minute deal for Coutinho or Zaha might be a possibility. Just can’t see it though.

Tierney looking like it’s done. So we might sign in all the positions we needed and good options in most but not quite the CB signing we all hoped for. Would be a good window I think. And hopefully the attempts this window suggest the next big signing we make either in January or next summer will finally be a top class CB!

The CB signing was Saliba. It's a pretty barren market out there at the moment, Luiz may not be everyone's first choice. But I think we could do a lot worse. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
