Don’t understand the coutinho rumours at all.

I agree most likely ins will be Tierney and Cahill. (Cahill because I think time will run out and we will get desperate to sign anyone)

Speaking of which free agents can still be signed after next Thursday no?
 
Tierney is supposedly injured snd is thought to be out until October.
Not sure how true this is but do Arsensl have a plan B ?

I was chatting to a mate about Cahill today. He'd make a decent stop gap until Saliba comes in. Bags of prem experience and a free agent, so wouldn't cost us anything (other than wages)

Just seen on Sky Transfer Page the Coutinho rumour - thoughts guys.

imo he is a good player but it isn’t a position we need (unless he can play CB) or is it too good a chance to turn down and we have CB option in progress

I think if Coutinho comes in it could spell the end of Ozil. He probably suits Emery's style better than the German.
 
£27m for a season long loan is a joke tbh.
And what would you do with Ozil...no one will pay him the wages you do.

The loan fee would be criminal. We could buy Tierney for that or put it towards a decent CB. It would be great to see what Coutinho could do at Arsenal, but as you say, what happens to Ozil ?

Ozil has looked pretty sharp and hungry in pre season, if he actually decides he's bothered and pulls his finger out, he could have a brilliant season ahead.
 
What I wouldn't mind seeing though is us coming back from Barca tonight with a loan deal in place for Umtiti.

Decent first half from us against Barca. Looking like we've got good shape, and playing the ball out of defence well. We look so much better without Mustafi in the team.

Lovely take and finish from Auba, he's gonna tear it up again this season. Shout out to Joe Willock again, he's had a great pre-season. He's beginning to remind me of a young Yaya Toure.

Bit unlucky to lose that game. Great finish from Suarez at the end. But we had a couple of great chances to win that game.

Defensively quite poor again though in the 2nd half. We so badly need a CB, it's such a pressing issue now.
 
Ah typical- was a silly mistake that cost us this match.

Looked ALOT weaker defensively when Sokratis went off.

Willock had a great game, Aubameyang looks sharp .. but surely we HAVE to strengthen the defence.
 
Reports are we have had a £55m pound bid for Dayota Upamecano turned down. Wonder if we will go back with a second offer?

He's been integral to RP Leizegs recent success. One of the Bundesligas breakout stars over the last 18 months. Reminds me of a young Desailly. Can we afford him?

Reports that we've bid £55m for Upamecano from Liepzig. Apparently they want £70m

The fall out from that batshit fee for Maguire is that every CB is now 25%-50% more expensive.
