Basically, you've no idea what happened. Cech was obviously chummy with Abramovich who out of pity let him join a local rival - that noted bleeding heart liberal.

If that is his idea of a reward, I've no idea what a punishment would look like.

Well Cech categorically stated he wanted to stay in London but wanted to be 1st choice - so I imagine punishment would have been forcing him to sign for Spurs <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Apart from Sanchez, none of the players you listed provided a real goal threat last season, Mahrez banged in 20 odd goals last season, so he most certainly brings something we badly need. The world class forwards are not really there in this transfer market, also the price is becoming a joke, Higuain for £70 odd million is insane, there is no way Dortmund will look at that and think about selling PEA for £50 Million.

Am I the only one here that is getting sick of these insane transfer fees nowadays? Pogba for 100m and Higuain for 75m is crazy. As a fan you feel more and more out of touch with what is happening in football, which started off as a working class sport. Enough is never enough I guess.

Same. Transfer fees have become utterly dispicable. £79m for Higuian and as somebody said on Radio 5 live he's not even Argentina's first or second best striker.

As frustrating as it is being an arsenal fan when the transfer window comes around, I'm glad Wenger isn't being dragged into paying these bullshit prices.

I think we do NEED Mahrez. We are weak on the right side of our attack. Walcott is always injured and when he's not he's doodoo. Ox is not up to it yet (I still believe in him). For me Mahrez is exactly what we need there. Walcott needs to go. He's a liability. With Mahrez we'll get real value. If we somehow don't get a ST (can't put it past us) at least we'll get plenty goals/assists from Sanchez and Mahrez. We need 3 players, maybe even 4. CB, ST, RWF and maybe a backup RB.

Yes and No. If that's what the top players cost now then we have to pay these prices.
Wenger cant continue with the same strategy. It wasn't working before and the league is getting more and more competitive.

We need a Top striker and another CB. Will we get them? probably not. Our inability to land transfer targets or our willingness to pay the required fees has basically made us a laughing stock.

I guarantee we will go into next Season with a massive injury list having not strengthened in the areas that need addressing.

If you want the top players you have to pay the top prices.
The other issue is do these top players want to come to Arsenal.
Wenger doesn't seem to have the pulling power that other high profile managers have.
Even Vardy didn't want to join us !

Vardy showed a massive lack of ambition turning Arsenal down to be honest, at 29 it was his last chance to play for a big club. Although he's got a champions league campaign with Leicester next season, so possibly out of loyalty to them he stayed.

Higuain isn't worth anywhere near £79m, and Pogba isn't worth the £105m that's being touted. They are ridiculous prices

So far I do not see available players that are really worth breaking the bank.
There are no top strikers available, simple as that. I can not see anyone worth breaking the bank. Ibra has chosen ManU, Levandovsky is not moving anywhere, Cavani, Barca trio are staying put, Benzema has huge problems, so we are left with 2nd tier players like Lacazette who is not even a starter with France. Top striker? Give me a break. I watched Lacazette 3 or 4 times, he will be struggling in EPL. The market is so desperate, even Morata, who spent last year on loan on the bench is considered a top striker.

Thought Morata looked decent in the Euros (I know, I know) but it's telling Lacazette didn't make the French squad.

In other news it turns out our failed bid for Lacazette was turned down in the early summer before West Ham's bid. Bit odd of Lyon to release those details now.

Ibra chose United yes... But why didn't he choose us? There always a reason behind us not getting players. "they'd already chosen to go to XXX"..."not worth the fee"..."not worth the wages"..." too old"... "too young"... Pah. List goes on and its boring. Arsenal are poor at attracting and signing players. We do it once in a while but otherwise it's rubbish. What about Embolo? Why didn't we sign him instead of Schalke? Why didn't we get Dybala? Higuain the first time? Morata the first time? Pay enough and we'd get Lukaku too.

Excuses, excuses, excuses... Wenger, and therefore Arsenal, is rubbish at signing players that we need. We either don't attract them, or we don't work hard enough to try to sign them. Probably both. The amount of effort Arsenal make transfers look compared to other clubs is tiresome.

    Cleaver? Arf.

Maybe it's because 3 of our CBs are either not on tour or they're injured. Arsene already came out after the Mertesacker story broke to say we need to get in experience to cover so I'm not worried yet.

Saving that for when that "experience" turns out to being Squillachi back for round 2.
