I think we are. Apparently Wenger said that we tried to sign two more at the end of the window, one of which may have been Benzema or Di Maria and could have been the player referred to as the one that Shyster Levy tried to block as well as the Ozil deal. We also put a bid in for Lars Bender earlier in the window too. I think these are the types of player we should be trying to sign now, those on a level with Ozil. No point bringing in average back up now, we need to set out our stand as we have with Ozil. Lewandowski would be a terrific signing. If there's any chance he's available, we should go all out to get him.
I agree 100%. I think Suarez will end up at Madrid which could pave the way for either Benzema or Di Maria to go the other way. Benzema would fit our style really nicely and he's a completely different kind of CF to Giroud or Podolski so would give us plenty of options.
This could all depend on how many injuries we carry too. But we should definately go back into the market this Jan and try and force a couple of signings, especially Suarez. No way do we have the team to last a whole season at a constantly high level, we need some reinforements to cover the inevitable drop in form and injuries.
I think it'll be an interesting January window as it's a World Cup year and we may see some players wanting to move. I also think a few teams still feel short in certain areas and there are a lot of teams with money these days. I hope we are in a decent position and playing well in January and then we go for another big signing (striker please) to give usaboost heading into the second half of the season. It may well depend how we look for injuries etc at the time though.
Exactly afcftw. I think we can force some transfers through being a World cup year. Having the Champions league and Ozil will be a good bargaining chip and if we continue our good form and playing style, we should be able be more of a pull.
Juventus and Napoli ready to battle Spurs in bid to offer Juan Mata Chelsea exit route http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-in-bid-to-offer-Juan-Mata-Chelsea-exit-route On the bench again with Willian preferred and Torres didn't even make the bench! Mata could get into any top 4 side in the Prem and i'm sure Mata is getting well peeved at this. I'm starting to dislike Maureen more now. Not only are they hoarding players, but these same players could be playing for top teams. On this one occassion I hope some of their players kick up a fuss and leave. I would love to get some of their players but Maureen won't play ball especially as we have Ozil now.
The way Mata is being treated is poor. He's easily one of the top 5 players in the PL and he's getting no respect. I don't understand what Maureen has against him but he has a habit of doing this to talented players.
He's a fool. Mata is one of their best players and one of the best in the Prem on a consistent basis. If I was him I would push for a move asap this Jan window. He needs to showcase his talents for the upcoming World Cup, otherwise he would be lucky to even get to the Spanish bench.
Well now Maureen has cup tied Mata in the CL, his value has gone down slightly. Maureen knew exactly what he was doing. Top top clubs will be slightly put off that he can't compete for them in the CL this season. Long term though, he would be a great prospect.
I think Mata would be great for us on the right(ish) wing, but Mou won't sell to us even if we're the only seriously interested party.
It could backfire in the end. Players will know that coming to Chelsea is a big risk if the manager is happy to let them rot on the bench or in the reserves.
True, it won't exactly make people come in their droves. Hopefully we'll become the new team that all the best come to now. We know how to treat players well!
Mata is a brilliant little player but where would we fit him in our team? Ive long maintained Carzorla is a better midfileder and now we have Ozil who is better still. That leaves Walcotts position on the right as the only option. Now there's no doubt Mata is technically better than Walcott but Theo gives the team something different and a constant goal threat. As much as I like Mata - he would'nt necessarily be a CERTAIN starter for us either.
Nils Peterson, striker I put forward as a viable option, scored 2 today for Werder Bremen in a 2-0 victory, .
From the BBC gossip column, link from some newspaper, apparently we are looking at Fabian schär of FC Basel. As the resident Basel expert I thought I'd share my opinion along with some facts. He's young with plenty of room to improve, but is already a very good defender, as you might have seen in Basel's win against Chelsea recently. He would be 4th choice atm, but at 21 he could very well be a top defender in a few years. He's not massive ("only" 6'2"), yet is very good in the air. He scored 2 goals from headers for Switzerland against Norway recently. Hes also good with the ball at hiatus feet, which is important for all our players. Basel also play a slow build up game along the ground. If we could get him for around £10m then he would be a good buy.
Hmm I would just go with a mobile technical striker and another Centreback. I think our midfiled options are excellent.
