Fabio Quagliarella is a 30 year old striker playing for Juve. Last season he played 35 games, scored 13 and assisted 5. Stats are ok but hardly a worthwhile purchase at the age of 30 if true. This would be a strange one considering Wenger doesn't like over 30s.

I'd never heard of him until the rumours started. If we do buy him it'll definitely be a panic buy in my eyes.

I can't believe it myself, it goes against all of Wenger's principles. Only old timers he brings in are his ex-players.

I think the site that has posted the story is fake anyway.

Not just what he said in his interview.. But it's something that would not be a surprise if Wenger does it

I wouldn't be opposed to Bendtner playing, as long as he gets his head down and works hard, he's actually a decent player. Not the best striker in the world by a long shot, but still would fill a gap until we can recruit a proper striker.

    PHIL MCNULTY Q&A

@gobofunnel: Who should Arsenal fans blame for the club's failure in the transfer market?

@philmcnulty: First of all we have to wait until close of play on Monday to judge whether they have failed but the lack of spending - after promising so much - means Arsenal's fans have every right to be concerned and express those concerns. Arsenal have Dick Law as what you might call their transfer "fixer" and it is not being too harsh to say he has not fixed too much this summer.

Ultimate responsibility, however, has to rest with manager Arsene Wenger. It is clear the club has funds available and is willing to spend. The £40,000,001 bid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez appears to have been made on the basis of misplaced advice but I'm sure it was a genuine attempt to try and sign him and the financial ambition is there. It showed ambition.

But time is running out after vowing there would never be another so-called "trolley dash" and if they do not get players in then the manager must take the responsibility for that. You have to assume if Wenger wants a player badly enough then he would be allowed to have him.

For once I agree with McNulty. Wenger's issue is that he has been too ambitious. instead of settling with top 4 players and getting them in, he has held out for players that would really improve us and give us a shot at a title. He has been guilty of listening to the fans and trying to appease them. Unfortunately signing these top players is not easy, nor is it possible to get the players we need if you have to pay 50M for one player.

Who? Suarez? Ok. Who else has Wenger bid for that will give us a shot at a title?

How the hell would I know who he has bid for? But there are plenty of average players around he could have signed for 20M and bigged them up, like Spurs have done. Spurs signings give them a shot at top 4, but is anyone picking spurs for the PL title? NO.

So lets be clear, as "Good" as people say Spurs window has been, our fans would not have been happy with exactly the same signings, because very few of them would actually make our first XI, or make us favorites for the title.

Are you sure about this. You got a whole extra point last year so it seems likely that four or five of our players are better than yours. We've lost one of those but signed at least three players who have improved us in other positions. Surely at least two of Capoue, Soldado, Lamela and Paulinho would improve you?
