Even if there are rumours, we ain't going to be signing nobody who's going to be able to play on Sunday, so no matter what happens, we're entering the NLD on such a bare thin squad, we won't have any subs able to change the game.
I'd take him for squad depth. Only if he is willing to come way down on his mega wages though. And only if our attempts to sign the other Madrid players fail.
On Footy Manager he was always quality... No idea how he is doing in real life Liverpool have made a fair few signings but im not entirely convinced about the quality of them. Sakho from the little i have seen and know of him is good though. I don't know if we will sign a defender or not tbh. I think with Flamini able to cover the full backs, Sagna is free to cover the CB spot until verm is back from injury when we will have our 3 main CB's back again. I'm not saying this is idealand i still think we could use a defender but i think it's not quite as urgent as it was before and if we don't get it done because we are after some game changing superstar i won't be too dissapointed.
Yeah I saw that too. To be fair we'll be linked with just about every player who hasn't already moved clubs this Summer, and Falcao !!
To be honest I can't remember a successful South American signing in the Prem Lge. There have been top players perform well over a short period but generally they get fed up, don't like the weather, or just **** off - they can be a volatile lot and I can't think of one (top class) who spent more than 3 year at one prem club....
Rumores of Xabi Alonso. A VERY DOABLE deal. 1 year left, 31 and seems to be replaced by Illi-whatever
Didn't he do an ACL in pre season ? AW alwasy loved him as a player - probably the most underrated player ever in the prem lge....
Sandro has been pretty decent for us (although spent half of last season injured). Ramires for Chelsea? Luiz?
That said i think any of Alonso, Kaka, Ozil, Di Maria, Benzema, Higuain, Casillas - who we have been linked with would have been good signings. There are probably more Madrid players we have been linked to but i've missed them! Some of the above will be moved on, so who knows, maybe one of those names will be at Arsenal in a few days.
Ramires has been at Chelsea 3 years and Luiz 2 years. Luiz was a joke when he first came but obviously has improved. Chelsea may be the exception to my statement as they often pay over the odds salaries so keep players happy but history suggets they'll get pissed off at some point and want a return to the sun...
Really?! How about .. Aguero, Tevez, Ramirez, Mascherano, Raphael, Luiz, Valencia, Sandro, Gilberto Silva, Juninho, Suarez..
