Where would we play Cunha though? As a false 9?.. maybe on the right while Saka is out.

He can play across the front 3 IIRC. I've seen him play as a left/right forward in a 4-3-3 and I've seen him play up front or as a supporting striker in a 2-man attack.

Don't think it's likely we get him, though.

Seeing us linked with Sane and Coman from Bayern Munich as Saka replacements this Jan...

    Any takers?

Seems like KT will be going back to Celtic this Jan. Doubt we're gonna get much for him at all, but no point having 4 left-backs at the club.

It's a shame how it's ended because I was so convinced he was going to be the next Arsenal captain, but I think a combination of injuries and a change of our style meant he wasn't a good fit for us anymore. However, he's still a quality player on his day and always a consummate professional.

Wishing him the best of luck back in Scotland. I'm sure he'll be happy to be back home as well.

Still seeing rumours that we're in for Nico Williams in Jan. Would be ****in awesome if we could get him. But the last time this all came up he was intent at staying at Atletico Bilbao

Yeah I'm sceptical though - he's talented no doubt but we need a forward to score gaols and Nico's goal return is half that of Martinelllis.

Apparently Cunha interest is legitimate and a lot of reliable sources reporting we want him, although the club know it will be very tough. Wolves unwilling to let him go unless we overpay for a fee and are currently in discussions of giving him a new contract. The new contract may include a release clause interestingly.

Not sure how highly I fancy our chances of getting this one done.

I think it's a much more doable transfer than say Isak.

I don't think Isak is going anywhere - until he decides it's time to move.

Personally am liking the idea of this signing more and more. Gives us alot of offensive options

Newcastle have a legitimate chance of getting Champions League football, especially with the run they're on. If they get CL, and with Isak currently having over 3 years left on his deal (expires June 2028), they hold all the aces.

Our chance to get him was in 2022 and we didn't take it. I think that ship has sailed now unfortunately.

I feel this is the case too. We had our chance and didn't take it. We could lob £120m at Toon and force their hand, but I can't see that happening and I wouldn't want us to spend that on him anyway

Yeah if they miss out on UCL he'll become a more viable summer option again.

Was wondering why it had gone quiet on the Sporting Director front. Turns out Tomas Rosicky is the lead candidate for the role. However, he wants to see out the season for Sparta Prague before moving on.

Arteta said we'd make a move for someone if there's a 'special market opportunity'...how the hell is this not a market opportunity? We should be all over this...

And no-one ever will be able to afford players like this in the current PSR climate. Very rarely anyway. Which means you'll either keep an amazing player for years (unlikely unless you start challenging for PL and/or ECL), you'll forcibly keep an unhappy player for years (possible), you'll be forced to sell him for less than you think he's worth or he'll never sign a new contract and walk for free when he's 28/29 with his best years behind him. I imagine that final scenario would be ideal for a club like Newcastle where money is no issue (but I suppose PSR is). See Osimhen and how Napoli failed to sell him for big money.
