As controversial as it is, I can see why all four of Lennon, Dawson, JD and VdV might not be in AVB's thinking, which unlike ours, is devoid of 'fans attachment'.
Lennon, not consistant, injury prone, a couple of decent seasons in 7, still no end product, which brings me too why people think pace and switching wings is such a must...what is the point, if the cross is to no-one which it is too often.
Dawson, slow, won't suit intended system, 2 bad injuries, 29, last chance for reasonable money on him.
JD, no need to explain!
VdV, 29, injury prone, never completed 10 games in a row without a niggle, not really that versatile, you have to admit only one or two sytems and positions suit him, when he's been played wide for example, he's been pretty ineffective. It would seem he's one of these players with sublime skill you have to build around, in the long term this isn't viable.
I'm not saying I agree with all of this, just trying to make sense of the logic behind it all. Anyone got anything to add?
