Can anyone name me a striker who has successfully made the transition betweein Ligue 1 and the Premiership? I can't think of any in recent years.
I can't give an answer in recent years, but didn't two of the greatest Prem strikers ever, Drogba and Henry both arrive from French clubs? Also while not at their level, Anelka was pretty damn good and came from France too?
Apparently Kaboul has had an op this morning. Twitter rumours that he is out till Xmas, anyone know better? If true, would we need to get anyone in or would Verts, Gallas, Caulker and Dawson be enough?
If true I think it just means Daws doesnt go anywhere, dont think we need anymore centre backs personally
I'll give you Drogba. Neither Anelka nor Henry were successful strikers in Ligue 1 before they came to the Premiership, I'm talking about players who are bought because they have done well in Ligue 1 and then converted that success to the Premiership. There are very few.
I heard rumblings Drogba wants back to the premier league with his Chinese side in turmoil.. worth a cheeky bid?
Well, I'm quite happy to give myself Anelka and Henry, so that's 3 points to me All 3 came from Ligue 1 and were successful over here, Henry being the greatest striker of the Prem era for me. Remy like Henry has the wide attacking position in him. Anyway, my point is, of course players can come from Ligue 1 and make a success of it as a striker over here. Two of the greatest ever have done so.
My point is Henry and Anelka became good players in the Premier League, after doing little in Ligue 1 (Henry actually came from Serie A if you were to be pedantic). If we were to sign Remy, it would be because we are hoping for him to replicate his Ligue 1 success.
Don't say that name here. The hacks at the Mail will be linking us with him again if they catch wind.
According to SSN the club has denied Levy is going to France today. On the otherside, VDV left training about an hour early today. Might be heading to Germany, might have a dentist appointment, guess away...
Berbatov undergoing medical at Fulham. BMJ and Berbs reunited once again. Absolutely superb signing for them.
Fine and my point is French players, or players from France in Drogba's case, can come over and be incredibly successful strikers in the Prem
I'm not, shame WY forgot two of the greatest-ever Prem strikers With regard to Remy, as I say I know little about him. Give me Carroll plus one other such as Remy instead of Defoe and I'm happy.
Latest here is that Spurs are asking 18 million euro's for VDV, HSV stated that they have a maximum budget of 12 million euro's and that the chance of VDV tranferring to the club from Hamburg is around 30%.
