Moorpheus, it isn't. But clearly the message hasn't reached Spurlock as he seems to be under the impression 'we all love Lennon', when we most cerainly do not. I can tell you I have a friend who has a much lower opinion of him than I do. I think he's ok, but not 'first XI material'. My friend wants him out of the club, as he thinks he doesn't do anywhere near enough on the pitch. I don't agree with my friend, but just pointing out not all Spurs fans love Lennon.
One thing Lennon has going for him is he can switch flanks - he and Malbranque were constantly switching during the Jol era - which is something Bale can't do. He's a useful player to keep around, even if his final ball has never been as effective as it should be.
As controversial as it is, I can see why all four of Lennon, Dawson, JD and VdV might not be in AVB's thinking, which unlike ours, is devoid of 'fans attachment'. Lennon, not consistant, injury prone, a couple of decent seasons in 7, still no end product, which brings me too why people think pace and switching wings is such a must...what is the point, if the cross is to no-one which it is too often. Dawson, slow, won't suit intended system, 2 bad injuries, 29, last chance for reasonable money on him. JD, no need to explain! VdV, 29, injury prone, never completed 10 games in a row without a niggle, not really that versatile, you have to admit only one or two sytems and positions suit him, when he's been played wide for example, he's been pretty ineffective. It would seem he's one of these players with sublime skill you have to build around, in the long term this isn't viable. I'm not saying I agree with all of this, just trying to make sense of the logic behind it all. Anyone got anything to add?
Nope - that pretty much sums it up. It is easy to get sentimental about certain players - sometimes its about certain matches or seasons they might have been associated with or maybe just the 'way they play' - but we as fans do make subjective decisions about them. Azza is one of those players for me - I like the little guy, but just don't ask me to justify his continued 1st team place!!
If I'm honest, and I do like the extra outlet that Lennon offers and will never forget him for running down the field, hurdling the challenge from Ypres(?) and laying off that ball to Crouch for the one - nil over Milan, I thought in the summer he was the most likely of our attackers to go.
this is gathering more momentum now. Someone who I follow has got pretty excited about this, from a credible source. (in their opinion). they are claiming it could be sorted in the next 24 hours. Again, not the type to get involved in the bullshit. very very interesting. what an exciting couple of days ahead. could be our best transfer window of recent years, by a clear mile.
Roo show some respect mate as I said earlier today that VDV would be sold to fund signing Moutinho so I expect to be named as the original ITK of this deal.
you can take whatever credit you like mate, I will never claim to be ITK, I'll just continue to pass on the info from those who think they are.
Vertognen Sigurdsson Adebayor Dembele this window looks pretty impressive to me already....and it is certain to have additions.
To worsen Lennons case, utterly piss poor goal return. Two seasons he's reached the heady heights of 5!, some seasons less than half that. If you're looking to have a 'front 4', if one of them is as bad as that it puts pressure on the other 3 to compensate, you start needing regular 20/25 goal strikers.
Could be adding moutinho and lloris to that list tomorrow! Superb window considering we were being linked with Doyle, Fletcher and rob green at the beginning
Julio Cesar agrees QPR move from Inter Milan http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19402928 I wonder how that move will turn out, as I didn't a few fans on here want us to sign him?
I'm not impressed by the window so far, we're still short of the keeper and striker we need. So far I'd say, we're probably looking like a top 7/8 team, no more. To go into the season relying on Ade will just be ridiculous, and Friedel will continue to leak goals for us.
Why do we leave it till the last minute! I know some fans love the excitement but it all seems desperate!......however I guess if we get the right players in then its not too much of a big deal and a few clubs seem to be leaving things till the last minute, such as city. However then you see clubs like Chelsea & Man utd do their business early.
