I'd have him no mistake. But Steven Defour just went to Anderlecht for 6 millon euro.

That would have been a better deal.

Get a grip.
Cleverley would be a great signing for us, **** it people seem to think we have become Real Madrid overnight.

I don't see anyone anywhere claiming that we're Real Madrid, however I see a few, me included, hoping that our leg isn't going to be lifted to the tune of £9m to bring in a less than ordinary midfielder

Xabi Alonso joined Bayern Munich tonight for £5million.

Just thought i'd put this stupidly ridiculous bid for Cleverley into context.

This ^^

Some people need to get their heads out of their arses and jump off the 'We hate Cleverley' bandwagon that they followed everyone else on to. Man United fans criticise him because he isn't up to their standard. We aren't Manchester United. Cleverley or Meyler? Anyone that says Meyler needs their head checking. Yes the fee may be slightly inflated but its the price you have to pay for young english players these days, especially one who has played for England and regularly played for one of the top teams in the country.

He could really thrive in a team like ours. He has a point to prove and we would be the perfect platform for him to prove it

There is a list of players id choose over tom cleverley, for alot less money, bruce may get him playing well, and at 4 mill, id consider it, but 9mill is crazy money for a player like him....having said that, he looked great when he came into the man utd team, since then he seems quite a negative style player, lays the ball back, dwells on the ball, cant beat a man. Maybe its the pressure of playing for man utd, but I wouldnt like to pay 9mill to find out haha

I think I'm right in saying we only enquired. It's Villa who have bid.

Seen some debates on twitter about who's better Quinn/Meyler or Cleverley. IMO Cleverley is a massive step up but would rather the money be spent on someone else.

Loan would be a great option. Other than a striker and a central midfielder i think we're probably done now. Odd no loan signings to date.

This makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

We just paid £8m for Livermore, now we're think of paying the same again for a player who plays exactly the same role?

I can see the sense in someone like Diame, who offers something different, or a replacement for Snodgrass, but Cleverley certainly isn't either.

I hope we go nowhere near it.

Valencia are in for him now.

Bruce said last night we hadn't bid for either Cleverley or Diame - but that we were interested in both. Clearly we are looking to bolster our midfield options before the window closes. Given a choice of the two I would prefer Diame but I'm not the manager. What we really need is someone other than Huddlestone who can pick a pass that will unlock a tight defence - does Cleverley have that in his locker?

I dont see him the same as Livermore. Jake is all energy. I see Cleverley as like a less good Tom Huddlestone. But if your point was we already have that player and it won't improve a first XI then I 100% agree with you. He's a good player and would strengthen our squad but we could spend £9m better elsewhere.
