I believe it was Nick Thompson who originally instigated it and it got the Allam's backing when Bruce said he also wanted it done.
I sit in East stand and I felt it was much improved. Recorded the game on Sky and flicked through it last night. If anyone else did then fast-forward to about 67th minute to hear the 'north stand/east stand chant'. Sounded great and commentators picked up on it too. Came home with a sore throat which doesn't usually happen except at away games. The library no longer!
I am in the West stand and the N & E stand sounded great, much better atmosphere than last season IMHO.
Another whiny post from one of the usual suspects. ClearlY you haven't talked to the people who know and weren't consulted and as you don't know the people that weren't consulted and I do know then you know, as usual, nothing. But keep on banging hat empty drum. Nothing to see here move along
Really happy to see this thread. For what it's worth, if the OP hadn't started it, I probably would have because I wanted to comment on how different the atmosphere and crowd noise seemed even watching it on the telly. It sounded great! It sounds like most people on here seem to think it has much to do with the change in seating arrangements but I wanted to ask whether anyone thinks it is in any way connected with a growing sense of confidence amongst City fans - a sort of, "this is where we belong" attitude?
Does it ****. A handful of people, many of whom are commenting that the other stand was quiet. When Stoke (in E1 to E3) sung, they pissed all over the fragmented north and east. From the East, I could barely hear the north most of the game. Also, plenty in E4 didn't seem happy being next to the away fans. As I said when you tried to claim today would prove anything, a first game against a full away stand proves little, but if anything, the comments on this thread show the idea could certainly have been done much, much better, but trying to hide behind atmosphere alone misses so much of the reasons this plan has caused long standing fans to walk away from the club. The CTWD group have shot themeselves in the foot with their support of this and shown themselves to be run by individuals personal agendas and have less interest in getting the views of fans than Mr Allam is.
Both misleading statements. Nick Thompson also said it couldn't be done, Steve Bruce diplomatically answered a question put to him about a proposed scheme, yet some try to claim he initiated it. In either event, the club were given poor advice on what the fans wanted.
CTWD have absolutely **** all to do with this, they were not consulted about it, they have made no statement about it and your attempts to somehow hold them responsible are utterly pathetic.
Dutch who are these fans who have turnd their back on the club because of the move? Because the only person I ever see whinging about it is you. If these 'fans' are going to turn their backs on the club because they're sitting somewhere slightly different, they're as bad as those man utd ****s who say they're not watching anymore if 'x' player plays or until the manager gets sacked and we're better off without them. So if this move truly has got rid of those types it's a huge positive and makes the already enormous success even more successful.
Never heard the North stand so loud (from the West Lower)...Stoke were loud in very small patches but that is to be expected from their away support. Other visiting teams won't have their following this season. People in the east stand E4 unhappy about sitting next to away fans need to grow a pair! Never been to an away game?
It's nothing much to with 'sitting somewhere slightly different'. People claiming it as a 'success' are actually agreeing the other stand was quiet. The noisy groups yesterday were the noisy ones from last year, this move has done nothing to alter that. If the move was to improve atmosphere, it's clearly failed so far. Effort should have been on the quiet areas, which are still quiet.
West stand were as quiet as ever. No new noise was created, which was the plan. The noisy people are just nearer to you. As you like atmosphere, you could always either move to one of these bits that need a pair growing, or get a singing section started in the west.
Nick Thompson said the SAG said it couldn't be done, it obviously could, as it now has been. The club claim Bruce was very keen for this to happen, I've no idea if they're making it up, I've not actually spoken to Bruce about it.
Quiet areas will always be quiet, the west stand is full of coffin dodgers and the south is full of young kids and families, they're always gonna be quiet areas. It may be the same people making the noise in each area but because of the acoustics of the stadium having two sound sources makes the noise much louder, not to mention making the away fans sound quieter. The east sounded just as loud as the east ever has and the north was added to that. You're a bitter old **** and your pointless drivel is invalid. You're just making up bullshit because you've thrown all your toys out the pram and are baring a grudge like a 5 year old on the school playground. Grow up FFS.
Well done Tiger, I hope you had a good time and got home OK too. Not a bad result considering the sending off. I watched it on TV, Quinn was Very good. I'm not able to go to KC right now.
Nick Thompson also admits to very little knowledge of football and its fans. It's interesting which bits of club releases get quoted as gospel and which get analysed and questioned depending if they support an individuals view. In either event, neither knew the nitty gritty of the move and its affects, so they're meaningless to try to hide behind.
Well i moved to E11 for this game and ive got to say from there when the south east, east and north got singing it was excellent and for the record from where we were sat i don't think Stoke were that loud only in small doses. i suppose if you are sat in E4 E5 and E6 the away crowd will always sound loud but i think splitting them up was a good idea ive heard a lot louder away crowds when they have been together in the North stand so i think apart from the odd 1 the majority agree it was a great success. The trick now is to keep it going UTT
