First of all I haven't seen any highlights from yesterdays game yet, Tigers Player doesn't seem to work :angry: I have however heard that Amos yet again had a shaky game, which he has had in every game I've watched live this season really, besides the Millwall one, but he didn't have to do anything in that one.

I reckon we should give Jakupovic a go, even though I haven't seen the lad play. If not just to "try him out", it would give some more competition in who's gonna guard the goal, which might hell Amos sharpen up (A mate is still having a go at me regarding Amos when his name comes up due to his bombarding of the family section during the warm-up against Charlton)

As I said, I haven't seen Jakupovic perform, besides youtube, but it can't really harm to try him out.

Yes quite possibly. Think i'd get Faye back in for McShane too. He was getting back to his old ways again last night and was more at fault for the goal than Amos.
 
He was poor again last night, thankfully Wolves were shot shy. WTF was that kick out that lead to the Wolves goal? It was a mini competition between Amos, McShane and Chester to see who could make the biggest **** up in 3 moves. Amos **** kick, McShane air kick, Chester OG all in about 5 seconds.

I don't want to be overly critical as we won - but Amos is capable of more than one mistake a game, and I just don't see any quality to his game that anyone else sees, he really is the weak link in the team. I would make signing a proven keeper in January a priority. Not a rookie learning the ropes whilst we try for promotion.

I'm not going to argue with you about Amos' abilities because we're obviously a long way apart on that. But why is it accepted that because a goalie is young it makes him ****? It's not like he's just come here to learn about goalkeeping for the first time, no amount of experience will stop a keeper making mistakes. Look at the England keepers over the years. Seaman and James were good keepers for years but they always had mistakes in them. It's just part of being a goalkeeper. People put too much focus on experience I think. In some positions and types of players it matters a lot, but in others it's less important and sometimes people make out as though inexperienced players have literally never played football before.

I don't think Chester should be on that list, as far as I could see, he didn't know anything about it.
 
Think this is all a little harsh, his kicking isn't great yeah but he hasn't done too much wrong, and we have won 5 out of 6 games so it would be a strange time to drop him. Also I doubt very much SAF would of sent us Amos if there was a chance of him being sat on the bench so I wouldn't be expecting to see Jakupovic any time soon.

As Bruce said last night 'He's young, he made a mistake'. He's inexperienced in live match situations - playing in front of 15k is different to turning out for the reserves at Man Utd. We've taken a punt on 4 reserve keepers recently Mannone and Guzan were successful Gulacsi and Amos not so successful. I have to say Amos terrifies me, out of position, caught in no mans land, handling errors, kicking errors, shots to saves ratio I bet is lower than any other keeper in the top 10?

It's ok learning your trade, but I'd rather he went and learnt it somewhere else, certainly not in our team where we look to have the chance of a decent campaign. There are too many areas of his overall game that need improving to be considered a decent keeper, at the moment anyway.
 
I think if any other player in any other position, with a replacement ready and waiting, had made as many mistakes as Amos has, he would have been dropped by now.

However, goalkeepers are a different creature, in my view. They orchestrate the defence and changing them will inevitably have knock-on effects on the defence if only for the unfamiliarity aspect. Also, Amos is on loan from United and we really don't want to annoy SAF.

If I was Jakupovic I would rightly feel hacked off I hadn't been given a chance by now.

But that's the point, he really isn't learning his trade. If he was still learning it he'd be doing it in the reserves at Man U. The fact Brucie wants him in our teams tells you that he obviously feels he's ready to play at this level and isn't just starting out as a keeper for the first time. He isn't even that young anyway. He's been in Man Utds reserves and going out on loan here and there for about 5 years.

Despite his failings, he's still way better than Gulacsi.
 
I don't think he is good enough. His decision making is very poor. When Bruce didn't go wide for the ball as Amos requested last night he panicked, instead of changing his mind and hoofing it up pitch he passed it to no one. That mistake cost us the goal and gave wolves all the encouragement they needed and could have cost us the win. I don't blame McShane or Chester as they should have never been put that position running back towards their own goal. He was caught in no mans land against Bristol, only the post saved him and he cost us a point against Blackpool. I don't recall him making a save that i would call spectacular, only regulation saves that any keeper would make.

No not like McShane. There has been nobody to replace McShane over the last 3 or 4 games, and he has played really well.
 
How many actual shot stopping saves has Amos made? Not including gathering the ball, plucking it from the air or smothering it?

Sorry, but that is the point. He is now learning in a live match, in front of a crowd. Frankly whatever your thoughts are, he isn't good enough.

McShane, has been exceptional.
 
Leave Ben Amos alone. He is young and learning his trade. So what if his kicking is bad ? we had to put up with Bo Myhills kicking for years and he was not that bad ffs.

Amos has not cost city a game yet unlike others in front of him. Remain CALM all is well.
