San Marino has 33,000 people, so by some rough maths and googling they have around 500 males aged 18-21 to pick from.

On the other hand, they probably have a greater than average proportion of half-decent footballers because if you put any effort in at all you've got a very good chance of playing international football!

I dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but Marian got his first win yesterday. Latvia 2-1 Lithuania. They're away at Greece on Tuesday.

Didn't see it myself but apparently on Football Focus, our old friend Mark Lawrenson was spouting out some more rubbish. Apparently saying "we have tried this target man business with Crouch before and it didn't work. Lambert won't start against Ukraine."

Lawrenson seems to know almost nothing about any player outside the top 6. He obviously didn't watch the England game and has never watched Lambert play other than highlights. We didn't even use him as a target man against Moldova. As for Crouch, he did very well for England to be fair.

Lawrenson conceded that Lambert may only be useful when we need "someone to go long to".

Lawrenson obviously did not watch the Moldova game or even listen to the commentators. The two ITV men understood what was going on and talked about Rickie's clever play in midfield...they positively enthused about him. Even when Theo scored his offside goal, one of them said Lambert had put a good ball through and it was up to Theo to stay onside. So he should have had three assists. How is that a target man...he can play in that position, but you would be wasting his talents.

He's tall, and he's slow, therefore he's a target man.

Just like Lawro is old, and he's a bit melted, and thus he's the years-old ice cream in the back of my freezer.
