I get that mate. One driver is carrying pallets of toilet roll and the other is carrying fule. Hazard pay etc. But the bloke I'm referring to said the job was getting more stressful hence he was getting more stressed, if this is the case and I'm not arguing he isn't stressed, I fail to see how a pay rise will cure that, from what he was saying, its a change of career needed. Money, unfortunately can't cure everything. Basically the fella was a bad example to use on TV when the main issue is wanting an 11 percent rise with inflation. I'm a Manager, the work can be stressful (not at the level of a paramedic), if I were on my chin strap with my workload, a pay rise wouldn't make my job any less stressful.

The way I see it mate.

Bloke enters the profession under certain pay and conditions.

The pay, for various reasons, erodes and the stress, because the system is collapsing, rises.

It seems they've reached a point whereby all the stress isn't worth the pay. That's why people are leaving and fewer are joining.

The attitude of the Government, in all this, isn't a great advert for the job.

I was sent this by an old school friend who is a train driver down south.

Apparently workers aren't interested in heating their homes or feeding their families ...

... they're all raging Marxists only interested in bringing down the Government.

And anyway, why do people say 'bringing down the Government' as if it's a bad thing <laugh>

Thought I'd post it as I hadn't seen it reported by the MSM anywhere and it gives balance to the discussion

Its the tories usual playbook, militant, communist etc. Other than the daily heil or the daily getsmuchworse not that many are buying it.

Sigh.

Union bosses, who are extremely well insulated from the negative consequences. Not the workers. They've got a long history of it.

We didn't even get offered a pay rise this year due to "economic developments" but the CEO of the American company managed to get a £2m bonus and another £26m in stocks and shares! And to top it off, the global company was linked to being taken over which made his shares worth even more! What a way to piss off your entire work force in 1 go!

As I said earlier, it might if they could employ someone else to take the weight off your shoulders<ok>

This is exactly the reason I believe workers at the moment are right, never thought that before in my life.

Agreed. Phrases like "Cost of living crisis" and "Energy Crisis" are things I thought I'd never hear in Britain. Its like there some kind of coo to get rid of the class system and have it Rich and poor. I don't watch the news much, but the bits I caught last night had me saying "****in hell" when they were saying the elder generation will struggle to "survive" the winter because they can't afford to heat their homes. Giving them advice like "Drink lots of hot drinks and use plenty blankets". It's absolutely disgusting when companies like Shell are boasting 9.5 billion dollar profits. Companies driving inflation so workers are forced to take strike action. The world we live in eh.

Just had our energy bill in from EDF and yet again they want to increase the direct debit.

Despite us being over £300 in credit and still using less than the direct debit amount they have somehow decided we need to pay £611 a month.

Every other month they try this, if I paid what they suggested i would be nearly £1,200 in credit ffs

Like I’ve said before mate, just cancel it, put your DD money in your own account and pay the bill each month when they send it. Dead easy.

I really think the electric companies have lost the plot . Blinded by the sole idea of sucking as much cash in as they can . Once I would say Ofgem should investigate them - but now we know they are a govt dept that works with them on their pricing , there’s no point in asking them
