Was that a reflective comment? Pause to let it sink in.
I don’t need to pause or let anything sink in. I’m not homophonic, racist, misogynistic or any of the other groups of people you are sympathising with by posting that utter tripe

I can see what you're saying and I'm sure there are plenty of homophobes, mysogynists, racists and all manner of lowlifes amongst us. But there are also many harmless decent people like Mrs Smug in whom I've seen a very gradual change in the last year or so. She's usually so lovey dovey and accepting it's slightly annoying but she's recently started rolling her eyes at the relentless shoehorning that's going on.

It's become slightly self destructive and as if we're being force fed a diet other people have decided is best for us. People like Mrs Smug aren't radical, offended or anything else ... just a bit bored with what seems to be a bit of an agenda by people who seem just a bit fanatical and aggressive.

Even saying you're a bit fed up with things can bring automatic and nasty accusations ...

... not really fair in every case tbh.

I hear what you are saying, and whilst I disagree I don't think your example can be related to someone posting "I wasn't homophobic until you started ramming it down my throat"

What have I said you could possibly disagree with ...

... this is what I was saying about automatic disagreement.

And, yes, you can equate Mrs Smug exactly with that comment.

She's only just begun to groan at all the Drag Queens and ethnic minorities in every advert or trailer.

Sometimes there’s that many adverts like that on the tv on a night I don’t even know what the adverts about.

She certainly wants her pound of flesh.
Come on lass, where’s your British stiff upper lip? <laugh>
The old lady apologised and retired. So point it out and laugh it off rather than being offended.
Obviously there will be a lot of old racist people around the monarchy. I’m sure Charlie knows he has to clear them out and hopefully he will.

A bit of a slip up by the lass tbh.

She claims to 100% British then says it's culturally inappropriate to touch anyone's hair ....

... really, in which culture is this?

I'm describing how Mrs Smug actually feels.

You can't disagree with that, it's how she sees things as just a normal decent person.

You can question whether what she's seeing is good, bad or indifferent but she's entitled to feel what she genuinely feels.

I can disagree with an opinion. Of course I can. That's how debate works
I suspect we are from different generations.

To use your example - I don't really like Drag Queens either, not my thing so I just change the channel rather then exclaim that we are being force fed stuff like this. There are 300+ channels these days - find something else to watch

Of course we can switch channels and watch whatever we choose, we're not daft.

What I'm talking about is Mr's Smugs general reaction to what's generally happening. This isn't just specific shows, it's adverts, trailers, pieces in the news, etc, which are unavoidable.

Saying things like 'rather then exclaim that we are being force fed stuff like this' makes it sound more extreme than I've said. I'm not exclaiming, just saying something that's honest and reasonable. Mrs Smug actually champions women, of course, but also gays, foreigners, migrants, etc etc etc ... she just thinks everything's being pushed just a little too much and too hard.

You may disagree, which is fine, but you can't say you disagree with her feelings, just her perceptions.

I'm not going to get in an argument with you over this. I can think her/your feelings are misguided and outdated, but I will leave it there.

Catching up on Facebook this morning and my mate’s wife posted that they are £450 in credit on their energy account and their supplier has informed them that their Direct Debit was rising by £55 per month. Out of curiosity I checked our account, I have purposely overpaid to give me a cushion for any future price rise, we are £848 in credit, another one of my mates is around £600 in credit.

I realise that some people are struggling and their accounts are in deficit, but assuming that a fair percentage of customers are maintaining their accounts in credit, it got me thinking that the energy companies are on a winner, how much money must they be making when mugs like me provide them with an interest free loan facility.

No wonder they are declaring £7bn quarterly profits.

She certainly seems to be turning herself into a victim.

"She said she felt “violated” after being “interrogated” by Lady Susan."

“But it soon dawned on me very quickly that this was nothing to do with her capacity to understand but this is her trying to make me really denounce my British citizenship.”

"This is like the Windrush thing to me, you are trying to make me unwelcome in my own space.”

A batty old woman is clumsily asking about her origins just like she might ask me about mine and often happens. (Grandad was Scottish from Edinburgh, Grandma was a Geordie from Consett.)

Seriously, people need to get a grip and the chip off their shoulders. The old woman was rude and inappropriate but 'violated and interrogated' and comparing it to Windrush ffs ... really?
Did she not say "in my culture", so she's born in Britain, British, but not from the British culture?

That's my Mrs as well, we both laughed at football focus ramming women down our throats.

I'm the same Monty. I was originally with SSE and moved over to OVO on the 25 November - (OVO apparently had bought out SSE business) They charged me, for my usage on the 25th, £27.18 for electricity and £35.14 for Gas. Some knobhead at OVO said it was the correct amount <doh>and after i asked him to direct me to someone who knew what the **** they were talking about, he told me it was a migration issue and that he will pass my issue to the migration team. Hope to have it resolved by early next week. These companies are making vast profits and its the customer that is suffering and the shareholders are laughing

Working it out on the back of a *** packet and not counting business premises, there are 19 million households in the UK. For ease of working it out, say that 10 million of those households are £100 in credit, that works out at £1bn of our money the energy companies are holding in their accounts.

No wonder they are rolling in excess cash
