The France team that didn't get called up could easily get to the quarters, it's scary how much more depth the other major nations seemingly have over England.
Well hopefully for him that's the England set-up trying to make allowance for a bad career decision and get him back on track.
It could turn out OK for him, he is back in the Championship, which is more his level at the moment, will get game time probably next season, and be on a better financial deal than he would be at City. So Stoke's relegation might just turn out better for him.
We have plenty of depths in this Country as the England young players have shown winning major trophies over the last few years.
Not sure I would compare the England U17s and U20s to some of the non-callups. In years to come maybe, but no chance right now. If, in the future, they get regular football and improve, maybe. But at this current moment our depth is dire in comparison to France, Spain, Germany et al.
The bull$hit has started already...Harry Kane reckons England can win the WC.. I can win the Lottery on Saturday, but it isn't going to happen!!
Apart from anything else it's obviously true. Greece won Euro 2004. Denmark won in '92 despite failing to qualify, and a very **** Portugal side won the Euros only two years ago in France. International tournaments aren't always won by the 'best' team* and a big part of it comes down to luck. If those three teams won tournaments then of course England "can" win one. Obviously it's unlikely as there's probably about 15 who "can" win it. *I see you there Bummers, calm down.
Are we having a sweepstake on here? I did the last one for the Euros if anyone wants me to do one this time round too.
"I think we can, I think we can win it," Kane said at St George's Park. "I think we're not going to be favourites to win it. We know we're not favourites to win it. "But you look at this season, for example, no one would have thought Liverpool would have got to the Champions League final and they did. "And you look at maybe Man United back in the Ferguson days when they had a young team and dominated the Premier League for years to come. "So, it's not really an excuse that we're young - it could be a good thing. "I believe we can win it and that's what we've got to try and do. Anything else is not good enough, really." Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said.
Nothing wrong with being positive. Agree 100%, The QFs are a possibility, anything beyond would be brilliant, but for the England captain to be trapped like this by scum journalists is crazy. He'll have it around his neck all tournament only for the same scum journalists to throw it back in his face if they fail early doors....Don't England learn. FFS its only two years since ICELAND easily held us off at arms length.....Yes Iceland. Kane should have been coached to say something like 'we're aiming for the quarters and anything beyond that will be great, but to win it will be tough'...Something on those lines. Now he's made a rod for his own back..Has Capt Mainwaring would say; 'Stupid Boy..'
