Because it was part of a different attack. Between Salah being "offside" and Keita scoring, we took possession of the ball back (and gave it away!). The attack for the Keita goal was considered as having commenced when Trent picked up the loose ball on the right hand side, and crossed it in. Salah being "offside" was part of the previous attack. VAR only goes back to the start of the attack which directly lead to the goal. Here though, it was all the same attack.

I mean if they're checking every goal then if one is scored from a corner why not make sure it was a corner? Should only take a few more seconds and that's a mistake that has far bigger consequences then being offside by an armpit. Not sure why I would have a meltdown when I've suggested it, I've said a lot recently that I'm leaning towards we may as well review everything.
I don't know to be honest. But yes, it clearly does involve subjectivity. I don't think today was particularly controversial, but it'll be interesting when it comes to one which is. For example, the PL themselves said before the season that they want to restrict it only to the phase of play which directly leads to the attack, because they don't want to be in a position where they are spending two minutes reviewing a 50 pass move from Man City. Which is good to hear, in my view. Only problem is, in that particular example, they didn't provide a suggestion as to which point during City's 50 pass move the attack would be considered to have commenced!
Agreed, I've no complaints about that one when it comes to the offsides. And as I said the other day, you could see it clearly from the first replay.
..... and there was me thinking that this thread was about a German talking about the war, every day a school day....
Leganes (coincidentally managed by our mate Pellegrino) have asked for a game to be replayed because they didn't agree with a VAR decision Translated to: COMMUNIQUE I Victoria Pavón: ‘We have not competed on equal terms and we are going to request that the game be repeated from the minute of the nonexistent penalty’ # LeganésLevante
You wouldn't get a replay in the past if the ref made the wrong call, so can hardly expect one for a VAR error. Ridiculous.
I can't decide what was worse yesterday between that, and the Burnley goal which was ruled out. (Nothing to do with whether or not I thought it was a foul on Evans - more that, given how high the bar is, and therefore the decisions which they have decided not to overturn to date, how did that one get overturned?!)
VAR is like Google. Before we had it we argued for ages about something. You Google it and now instantly you have an answer. But we still argue about it as there are so many answers.
