They could.

However, it’s not quite that simple. It’s taking us the best part of 4-5 yrs to actually leave. Once a GE result is known there’s no such drama, the new Gvt takes over the very next day.

All this, and of course, the EU would have to agree to us rejoining.

They would love our money and would have us back in a heart beat, mind you with strings attached

An interesting twist.
The most likely reason the UK would seek to rejoin is if the economy tanked post brexit. If this happened then our payments to the EU would be lower due to having a smaller economy.

The downside of that is those payments would be a larger proportion of our relatively shrunken gdp.

If you don’t like the incumbent Gvt you can get rid of them in 5yrs max. This is a tad more permanent.

Governments can do just as much damage in 5 years, and nothing is permanent if the democratic public don't want it to be. What obstacles are put in place by dictating federation of the EU is another matter! Although it appears what does not get spoken about is the financial black hole we will leave behind when leaving, so me thinks they would welcome us back with open arms or as the saying goes....cut your nose off to spite your face.

I wonder if in future, that if we are not happy with the outcome of a General Election whether we can have a second vote?
4-5 years later, yes.

Or, under this government, every year or so until they get their rightful 100 seat majority.

We did. Only problem for the person who called it was it didn’t go as she planned. The only certainty with a second referendum is that the numbers will not be the same.

Surely the democratic approach is for people to judge whether the Govt delivered on negotiating a Leave deal. I'm happy to leave that to Parliament.

Anyone on Twitter should have a read of this thread. Fully exposes an American white supremacist.
