Don't know much about the nags but I do know that Pellegrino won't start with two Strikers against Newcastle!*... *probably
I dont believe it will as the Premiership would still be a big draw with most of the clubs fans out numbering any breakaway league fans.
There is no way that if you took out the top 6 from the PL that the remaining teams would have as many fans as the ones leaving. I’d even bet that Utd have almost as many fans as the bottom 14 by themselves
But those aren’t the fans the TV companies are interested in, they want the top 6 who have fans all over the world. With a super league being played at the weekend, the remaining PL teams would have the same kind of status TV-wise as the Championship does currently.
Although I agree with your sentiments throughout this thread. I need to point out this so the worst argument in any football discussion. “I knew he would fail because he was abysmal at Inter.....” Come on SA, you’re better than that. Shall we start a list of managers who were shot at club A and great at club B, or vice versa??
I actually think if you swapped De Boer and MP around at the start of the season they would have been better for the respective clubs.
Don't Believe it The premiership draws more fans from all over the world and not just to watch the big sides either as they will follow their own sides....Sky could never afford to ignore the premiership as it will be much more exciting to watch with the title up for grabs by anyone.....
They wouldn’t ignore it but it's silly to think it'd be the same sort of money/interest involved. You'd still end up with a top bunch of clubs anyway and it'd be neither of ours.
Saints could easily win the title if they were allowed to keep their best players and not be forced to let them go when under contract,,,,that's what i want to stop...As for the money sky would have to pay then that would come down to competition....It will still be a good wack and plenty to go around...
Ah the old ifs and buts argument, fool proof that Like I say though it still wouldn't be an even playing field. There'd still be a top 6 so to speak it'd just be different clubs, and not one of ours.
I'd also add I don't really have an issue with the fact the top clubs outspend the smaller clubs, Chelsea/City is a bit different but the reason the likes of United and liverpool can spend more is because they've historically been more successful. It's all of the money washing around the top level that sickens. The fact Saints are paying Fraser 80 odd k is just as ridiculous as anything else.
Well exactly. If a wage cap of say, £50k per week were enforced, that would even things out a lot, and it would also help clubs like us to hang on to our best players for longer.
Hmm, not convinced there. If the money's the same then most would still prefer to play for Liverpool than Southampton.
I wonder how much people, particularly internationally, “like watching football” right now as opposed to supporting a single club.
Like Sadio and Virgil? I know there's examples both ways but most players at the top of their game will fancy themselves to make the step up. If you were playing for Bilbao and Real Madrid came calling you'd be gone like a shot.
That might depend how you define fans. Man Utd probably have more fans in Asia and America than Saints do in England, but those fans don't go to games.
