I imagine Zola will say to him to stick with us for another season to get us promoted, and if we don't make it, we would consider an offer... Unless it is a top 8-10 team, then doubt Deeney would push for a move either after sticking by him after where he was 12 months ago Was hoping Vydra would have the same thought, but obviously not!
Yes - that is my worry. We'd go out and get another flop from the lower leagues. We've got lucky with Deeney but even he had a tough start.
When it comes to scoring goals we could not rely on Vydra last season and we can't afford to rely just on Deeney this season. Zola knows Watford have an asset in Deeney and if he continues to get on the score sheet then he is bound to attract interest. Pozzos will sell if the price is right and if Deeney wants to go. Zola will have discussed this at length with the Pozzos and will have options should the situation arise.
Lucky with Danny G, Lucky with Marvin S, Lucky with Troy D and our luck will continue in fact we're making our own luck now with the support of the biggest scouting network in football. If the price is right he will go thats the reality of football....
Soccer Sauce ‏@soccer_sauce 23m We understand Crystal Palace have made a bid in the region of £4m for Watfords Troy Deeney ITK_Watford ‏@ITK_Watford 7m There have been 2 bids by PL teams for Deeney in the region of £5m. Watford are not interested in selling and Troy is happy.
Providing he is being paid well enough, he knows that he won over the doubters and is popular at the Vic and could be in the Prem with Watford next season, why would he want to move?
Deeney's goals can help us get into the Premier League. That is worth a lot of money. He is a proven Championship goal scorer. If he goes up with us and is not a success in the premier League he will leave for a lower fee than $5m but will have paid the difference to us by getting promotion. Does WFC think he is likely to increase in value if he stays with us? Is there an obvious cheaper replacement available who will score as many goals as him? If he leaves now he is likely to go to a struggling Premiership side (and with Palace be, in the Championship next season). He will get a temporary increase in income. If he stays with us he will still, at least, get one season of a higher income so no real gain to him. He has to decide whether staying with us will provide him with a more sustained income in the Premier League. Are we likely to get relegated after a season or two in the Premier League? Are the clubs offering him a contract likely to stay in the Premier League? With which of these clubs is he most likely to be a success in the Premier League? My feeling is that it is better he stays with us for both the club and him. If he can wait until the January window he will be able to see how successful MV has been at West Ham, or wherever he is rumoured to be going, today.
The Palace one is probably a no-go as, according to SSN, they are trying to get Chamakh from Arsenal on either a permanent or loan deal.
Okay here's a different rumour for a Friday night - I was going to post this in the quiz thread but thought best here instead - What ex-British Prime Minister is rumoured to be having an affair with Nigella Lawson - hence her husbands (poor) reaction in the resturant? Is it Gordon Brown, John Major, Tony Blair or non of these?
