Gianluca Vialli, the former Italy, Chelsea and Juventus striker, has died today at the age of 58.

RIP <rose>
He had been seriously ill, on and off, for a long time.

I really liked Vialli. He came from a very rich family but worked extremely hard to become a professional footballer. He knew he wasn’t the best by a long way but was clever and brave as a player. He played for Sampdoria, a seriously good team, when I lived in Italy and was always seen as a real threat by opponents.

He also had the ability to take the piss out of himself and be very funny.

Even though he is associated with Chelsea over here, I can’t hold that against him.

RIP
