I could hardly watch as they were going up the steps to St George' Chapel...imagine how they felt with 4 billion people watching around the world. Those lads deserve a medal :emoticon-0100-smile

I looked at that final flight of steps they had to climb and, without any exaggeration, my heart was beating like it was a last minute penalty in the Cup Final ...

... as they marched to the back of the hearse I was silently mouthing 'come on lads'.

Was describing the final march to Windsor to my sister. She was stuck at the airport in Boston with crap wifi. I was saying how the Queen's hearse was surrounded by so many guards and how they were protecting her on her final journey. Was crying by the end of the message. Such an emotional day

It was incredible Smug, as soon as the front four bearers got onto the first step, all of the weight of the coffin was on the rear four bearers. A quarter of a tonne of dead (excuse the phrase) weight takes some doing

Imagine today happening in America, it wouldn't happen.

It would have been armoured cars, security everywhere and at a fast pace as they panicked

Compared to the dignified events we witnessed today

I do think that there should also be a nod of appreciation for the work behind the scenes by the Police and the Security Services - they must have been full on for a week now. Arguably the biggest and most high-profile single event in modern history and it all went off without a murmur of bother. Very well done to all involved.

Quite right mate.

My niece works for the MOD, in London, and was telling me they arrested two hundred people on the eve of the funeral. They held them 'on suspicion' and released them without charge last night ...

... she was joking that anyone who'd bought a megaphone or ordered a banner was pulled in <laugh>

Anyone know who that bloke was walking in front of the hearse towards Windsor Castle. He must have been about seven feet tall.
The bald one is a fella called Tall Paul, he's been her footman for years and they were close (the wife told me this). There was another really tall bloke, with wavy hair and glasses. No idea who he was.

Andrew nearly went. Saw him fight it down.
Just as they pulled off from the great Hall, yes, he did go marra pointed it out to the wife and to my lad. That is when reality will have kicked in after of what has transpired these past few years. I don't think we will see much more of him.
The other one I noticed was in the Abbey with Harry standing directly behind his father when they played the national anthem...From the close ups, Harry never sang it and a close up of Charles with tears in his eyes may have been because he didn't hear Harry singing it.. Another Royal who can do one.

The Bidens were late to the Abbey and had to wait and go after the veteran's

Or maybe because he was at his mum's funeral...

Not at all in the minority. To attend and wait hours to show respect was admiral , to make a cheap home movie a priority negated

I didn't think Harry was singing. Wife said he was.
