They all do tbh, everyone involved in the whole ceremony. If most of the military peoples' duties are done for the day, I bet the pubs of London are about to get very busy indeed.
Both my wife and I are currently in Crete but today was not a day to sit next to the pool or be sat on the beach. We watched the main service at Westminster with a bunch of other Brits in a common room. Not a word murmured...it was incredible to be part of that group who we don't know nor did we speak to (we will later). My missus and I spent the rest of the afternoon in our room watching the ceremony together. Emotional to the end but the bagpiper finally got me....he was incredible. We will head out tonight to raise a glass. Rest in peace your Majesty. Long live the King
She was our Queen and the World decided she was their Queen. What an incredible spectacular display of pomp and ceremony this nation has shown the rest of the World. RIP your Majesty
What an incredible send off. How anyone can watch that and say they aren’t proud to be British and spout their anti-monarchy nonsense is beyond me. GSTQ.
Very moving. Apart from the sadness of the occasion it actually made me feel incredibly superior and proud ... ... there isn't a country in the world who could better that. When the Queen's piper walked into the sunset it was magical.
Great post mate, we’ve been glued to the telly all day. What a fantastic, dignified display of pride and unity. I was in Portugal when she passed, and I was wishing I was home, but the Portuguese were tinged with sadness as well. A couple of the bar owners raised a toast and offered us words of condolence. She touched the hearts of people all over the world.
Pride, thats hit the nail on the head and exactly what I felt. Sheer pride at being British, possibly the first time I have ever felt like that in my 42 years. I watched every minute of it today and like you say no other country on the planet could pull off such a dignified and fitting send-off. Through all the madness she has been one of the few constants in most of our lives, she has set such a high bar I doubt any following monarch could match it.
Imagine today happening in America, it wouldn't happen. It would have been armoured cars, security everywhere and at a fast pace as they panicked Compared to the dignified events we witnessed today
Today was the perfect send off and the eyes of the world were on the UK. Other than a few online posts Trevor Sinclair esc like. I felt very proud to be British. A phrase that has seemingly became dirty and taboo over the years. Huge mention for the 8 men that carried the coffin. Eyes of the world on them and they never put a foot wrong.
I could hardly watch as they were going up the steps to St George' Chapel...imagine how they felt with 4 billion people watching around the world. Those lads deserve a medal
Just watched Kirsty Young again - what a fitting finish that was - the BBC has its critics but its presenters have been very good
The BBC coverage was very very good today, minimal commentary which helped the occasion in my opinion
