Good post mate, makes a lot of sense. I'm at the stage when I have dear friends I've known for fifty years and all 'creaking' ... ... the thought of a string of funerals fills me with dread tbh.
Football cancelled but, for the elite ... ... God save the test match. "The decision to restart cricket at all levels from Saturday was announced two and a half hours after the Premier League had made public its decision to postpone this weekend’s fixtures." Ben Stokes @benstokes38 "She loved sport, be honoured to play in her memory."
Incredibly well connected and informed ... ... I'd always fear I'd have to slot him if I was stuck on a train with him.
Oh yes. My two girls are pipers. You can tell a good one a mile away - literally - after a while. They learned at school and their teacher was a lovely bloke despite being a mag. I got to meet a few ex-Queen's Pipers through him. Some fantastic stories. The bad ones give the instrument a bad name. There's nothing better than a massed pipe band.
I always think the context is more important with bagpipes than any other instrument. In the right place they're magnificent and moving but you wouldn't want the neighbour playing them in his garden.
All about context. I believe (rightly or wrongly) it was probably created by someone who boos the taking of the knee as a dig. But the sentiment with which you posted it was (from my experience of you - admittedly I don’t know you outside of here), not meant that way
Appreciate that mate To be honest it never even crossed my mind about it being a dig about BLM and despite lots of people going into it and banging on about how it's all about the word "now" I still dont find it anything more than a powerful image. Now that may be considered ignorant, but to my simple mind "taking a knee" cannot be allowed to be used exclusively for one cause over another
This is just it. The creator will hate that it’s being seen as a powerful thing rather than an anti “take the knee” thing. I’m not offended, I see it as you do, m or seen a single post condemning it on here so no problem at all
Not long put the news on and there is the accession ceremony this morning that the King attends. Whilst it's important to uphold these traditions, I would love one of the presenters to ask or even mention that since the Queen passed the King and family have had hardly any time to start the grieving process
With the amount of people going to London next weekend, the preparations for the funeral and the amount of police and emergency services required I can't see how they will have games on next weekend
P. Morgan said it would've been fantastic to hear the national anthem being sang all over the country today.
