Even though there were two goals, that game was as dull as anything. Sunderland seemed content to just take a narrow defeat, Man City seemed content to just stay in the first gear in the knowledge that over 90 mins, they would probably win.
I've seen highlights of Man City play a few times, and I find their play pretty dull generally**. I don't really know why. I guess it's that with all their superstars my expectations are that much higher.
I should qualify it that if Saints are not involved then I find football pretty dull anyway.
Didn't see the game but sounds very professional of City to me.
Got Stoke Wednesday before FA Cup QF and CL the week after.
Just watching Spurs v Everton. Two teams who I'd rather lose, but I certainly don't want Everton to win. I want to catch them. Morgan's gift to Kane was astonishing. He came short to receive a roll out, then had a brain fade. I realised how many ex-Saint personnel were about so I concentrated on them. What's happened to Morgan.?. He didn't do anything particularly well. Highlights only, of course.
Two big mistakes, he was lucky not to be punished for the first. Saints magic has certainly faded.
I wanted to see Everton lose, but I don't think I can take seeing any of those crap celebrations ever again! Truly dreadful.
Yeah I thought that pointing to deities was annoying enough, but wow, what was that.!?!
In the Sunderland game, the stadium started to empty, and it made me wonder how long Sunderland supporters can put up with paying to watch their team lose. Must be awful if that's your life. Better to be relegated just so that they can enjoy winning again. Yeah, I'm assuming that they wouldn't lose players because I can't see PL teams wanting any of them.
This goalie being Pickford.? Picthford.? [apologies if wrong] Somebody mentioned him before. Was it you HR.?
He has a lot of admirers, he plays like a far more experienced keeper than he years show.
I like our Fraser, but I just fear he will not capture the level we are aiming for. We may well have a tough decision to make this summer, but one thing is for sure, we'd be lucky to get someone as good as Jordan.

From my perspective/era, there have been teams that always seem to have had top keepers [Leicester.! They've bred them], but Saints have been uneven. We've had a couple of ffy blokes between the sticks over the years, and although Fraser is one of the better ones, he's not as good as say... Niemi or Shilts. Those goalies were often exposed, saved their team, and rarely made mistakes. Fraser though. Perhaps it's evidence of the modern football. I'm not suggesting that's the real reason, but we've been told that the modern ball moves around a lot more than they used to. I don't know. Fraser's a really good keeper, but he's not been doing the special stops of late.
No mistakes on Saturday, looked more comfortable coming for balls as well. Maybe the weeks rest is doing him some good. It would take a brave/stupid man to drop him for an unknown.
What's Hassen like anyway.? Is this a keeper who comes on because of injury or the other keeper's proper loss of form.?
To be fair to Sunderland fans, they've got a large, and very loyal core support up there.
To average over 40k, despite the **** they've been served up (for what, 3/4 years now?) Is fantastic really.
Credit to them, there's no way we'd get anywhere near that level of average attendance if we were that ****e for consecutive seasons.
I used to dislike them, opinion has changed in recent years as compared to Toon fans - they're both big clubs to be fair - their supporters don't have the sense of entitlement that Newcastle fans seem to have.
Plus, I can't help but have a soft spot for a team in red & white stripes who perform the great escape every year

The huge support for a team like Sunderland may in part be due to having a rival as close as Newcastle....the same goes for Everton/Liverpool and Man City/United. Once you have chosen your side in a rivalry like that, you are less likely to desert and have your rival fans crow over you. Then you add in the fact that the area is football mad. Southampton and Portsmouth are close as well geographically, but a huge swathe of people here have little interest in football.
Just a thought, but if Zlatan gets investigated for the elbow on Mings and gets let's say up to a 5 match ban for it,
