For me, the main point is;
If you are on a yellow, and Dean is in the middle, don't rush in and give him the chance to send you off. Pierre has had plenty of yellows softer than that! First tackle ones as well! Got to be smart, var won't save you.

Which is the point. If you need to be ‘more careful’ it’s because referees are fallible in these situations.

But we know they are. And especially '102' Dean. We have been really fortunate with the refs we have had so far, and they have mostly been excellent. But we'll be on the end of a bad one soon.

I’ve nothing against refs being fallible. Of course they are. They’re human. It’s not even the worst decision I’ve ever seen (because you can kind of see why he made it). But it isn’t the right decision, and Tom’s blind defence (even when he admits he’s not sure if he was touched) is just boring sometimes.

In fact Tom even thinks he was touched with his shoulder, whereas VM thinks knee!? But yeah, clearly a yellow *shakes head*

Only seen this replay, but Masuaku knee's his leg into the back of his other one as he's running which causes him to go down, no? Its soft but also very late.
Yellow for the other guy for diving. I despair for football when **** like that goes unpunished. Referees just aren’t up to the job, with or without VAR.

It all comes back to the ref, and hopefully he has some common sense. Like tonight, he didn't need to book him, but he was always going to! But although its the same old Dean, I have seen some much improved displays from our men in black, so there is hope!

Haven’t seen the incident but if a yellow is being issued for almost making contact, unless the attempt was deliberate, dangerous and/or out of control a yellow might be a bit harsh.
It’s kind of like receiving notification for speeding because the police officer thought you were going to exceed the limit but wasn’t sure, nor did he use camera evidence to confirm if you had, but thought “what the hell” let’s do it anyway.

You mean making it up as they go along? :bandit:

Perhaps the ire is misplaced a little here? Masuaku (sp?) did lunge in a bit and did make contact... with the Villa player's toetop. In real time, Dean could easily have been deceived by the pretty disgraceful overreaction of the Villa player into thinking there was more contact.

However, let's not start crying out for more VAR as it is actually working pretty well so far!

I didn’t realise that Sheffield United had an ownership struggle going on. Today the court ruled against the owner and now Prince what’s his name is owns the club fully.
